The Accounting Manager will lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while driving process improvements through automation. They will also manage and mentor a small accounting team while partnering cross-functionally to support company growth.
We are seeking a hands-on, tech-savvy Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Controller, this role will manage and develop a small accounting team, strengthen internal controls, drive process improvements, and help scale the finance function through automation and AI-enabled solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a proactive, high-ownership mindset and a passion for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and support company growth.
Responsibilities:
Lead accounting operations and financial reporting, including GL, AP, and the month-end close, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and US GAAP compliance.
Coach and inspire team members, manage and mentor accounting team consisting of one senior accountant and two accountants, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
Drive and continuously streamline the month-end close process, proactively identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
Establish and enforce internal controls for the month-end close by building robust approval workflows and ensuring comprehensive documentation.
Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, taking ownership of reviewing current balances and resolving outstanding historical items.
Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems, AI-enabled tools, and workflows to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and build a scalable finance function.
Partner cross-functionally across the organization, providing timely and collaborative support to business partners.
Act as a strategic thought partner to the Controller to evaluate, implement, and scale AI-enabled solutions and workflow automation that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the finance organization.
Perform detailed balance sheet and P&L variance analyses, proactively investigating unexpected trends and recommending corrective actions.
Execute special projects and ad-hoc initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally blending public accounting with startup environment.
CPA license is highly preferred.
Deep working knowledge of US GAAP and strong foundational accounting principles.
Strong systems intuition with a proven track record of evaluating, implementing, or redesigning modern accounting tech stacks.
