Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.

(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year—if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later.)

At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas, expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

As an Account Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting a fast-growing financial consultancy by owning the operational delivery of a portfolio of client accounts. You'll work closely with clients, accountants, FP&A specialists, and internal leadership to coordinate service delivery, keep engagements on track, resolve issues, and ensure clients receive a consistently high standard of support.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong operational ownership with client relationship management, project coordination, and enough accounting knowledge to confidently understand financial workflows and review work. You'll act as the operational owner of client delivery—connecting clients with internal finance teams, proactively managing priorities, challenging assumptions when needed, and ensuring work moves forward without requiring constant oversight.

Accountability

Client Delivery & Account Management

  • Own the day-to-day operational delivery of a portfolio of 10–20 client accounts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout ongoing service delivery.
  • Build strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and reliable follow-through.
  • Monitor account health, identify emerging concerns, and take action before issues affect the client experience.
  • Participate in client meetings and progressively take ownership of customer interactions independently.

Project & Delivery Management

  • Coordinate end-to-end onboarding activities for newly acquired clients.
  • Manage delivery timelines, priorities, and dependencies across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Coordinate accountants, FP&A specialists, and other internal stakeholders to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, task management systems, and account information.
  • Monitor progress and proactively address bottlenecks, missed deadlines, and delivery risks.

Financial Work Review & Quality Control

  • Review completed financial work for quality, consistency, and operational accuracy.
  • Use your accounting knowledge to understand financial workflows, identify inconsistencies, and determine when further review is required.
  • Ensure client deliverables are appropriately reviewed before being communicated or escalated.
  • Identify recurring issues in financial delivery and recommend improvements to prevent them from happening again.

Issue Resolution & Escalation

  • Independently resolve the majority of client and delivery issues without requiring founder involvement.
  • Investigate problems, determine practical solutions, and coordinate the right people to implement them.
  • Escalate complex or high-impact issues with clear context, recommended solutions, and appropriate urgency.
  • Challenge assumptions and ask thoughtful questions when something does not align with client requirements or delivery expectations.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify opportunities to improve client onboarding, delivery workflows, communication, and internal coordination.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable processes that improve consistency across client accounts.
  • Use project management and workflow systems to create visibility across priorities, deadlines, and ownership.
  • Look for ways to use technology and AI tools to streamline repetitive operational and communication tasks.

Colleagues

You'll work closely with clients, accountants, FP&A specialists, founders, and other internal finance stakeholders. As the operational owner of client delivery, you'll coordinate across these groups to ensure expectations are aligned, work is progressing, and issues are resolved proactively.

At Oceans Talent, you'll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you're continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills and Qualifications

As an Account Manager, your vertical focus will be on client delivery, account management, and operational coordination, while your horizontal focus will include project management, financial acumen, process improvement, stakeholder management, and problem solving.

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience, ideally in client-facing account management, finance operations, professional services, or a related operational role.
  • Client & Account Management: Strong experience managing client relationships, expectations, and ongoing service delivery.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines across concurrent engagements.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to understand financial workflows, identify issues, and review financial work, without necessarily preparing financial statements yourself.
  • QuickBooks: Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks and confidence navigating accounting systems.
  • Operational Ownership: A strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently identify problems, make decisions, and drive work through to completion.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English with confidence communicating professionally through Slack, email, Zoom, phone, and client meetings.
  • Organization & Attention to Detail: Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain visibility across multiple client accounts.
  • Problem Solving: Comfortable challenging assumptions, asking thoughtful questions, proposing solutions, and escalating only when appropriate.
  • AI Fluency: Comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity, communication, documentation, and operational workflows.

During the interview process, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Client & Account Management: Your ability to build trusted client relationships, understand their needs, manage expectations, and ensure a consistently strong client experience.
  • Financial & Operational Management: Your ability to manage financial and operational details accurately while keeping client and business requirements aligned.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Your ability to communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders, manage sensitive conversations, and keep everyone aligned on priorities and outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Your ability to identify operational or client issues, assess the underlying problem, and take ownership of finding practical solutions.
  • Process Management & Improvement: Your ability to manage recurring processes, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and introduce improvements that create more reliable operations.
  • Prioritization & Commercial Judgement: Your ability to balance competing client and business priorities while making sound decisions that protect both relationships and operational outcomes.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
