The researcher will conduct keyword and topic research to optimize YouTube video packaging, including titles and search intent strategy. They will analyze competitors and use AI tools to ensure content is positioned effectively for search and browse traffic.
About the job
We’re looking for a YouTube Keyword & Title Researcher to power the packaging of several YouTube channels focused on technology, AI, SaaS, Tutorials, and Educational Content.
You’ll feed our content pipeline: keyword and topic research, competitor analysis, and title options that slot straight into our existing title framework. We own the strategy and the systems — your job is to make our packaging decisions fast, well-sourced, and data-informed, so every video goes into production with the right angle and the right title logic behind it. If you think in CTR and search intent rather than tags and keyword density, can research a niche you don’t already live in, and deliver consistent, clean, on-time work, this is a long-term opportunity inside a fast-scaling media company.
This is an execution-focused role. We provide the frameworks; you work within them, suggest improvements, and help scale them effectively.
Responsibilities
- Run keyword and topic research for upcoming YouTube videos, covering both evergreen search intent and timely/trending angles.
- Break down competitors: identify what’s working in comparable channels and translate it into concrete keyword and title direction.
- Propose title options per video within our title framework, each with a short, clear rationale for why it earns the click.
- Flag search vs. browse/suggested logic per video so each one is positioned correctly.
- Must have experience using Ahrefs, and experience with Semrush will be a plus too.
- Use AI tools in the research workflow — keyword clustering, title variants, competitor-gap analysis — with editorial judgment over raw output.
- Document every recommendation with its sources and reasoning, so decisions are checkable at a glance.
- Maintain steady throughput and hit deadlines across multiple channels.
- Keep a lightweight knowledge base of what’s working per channel, so the process compounds instead of restarting each time.
Requirements
- Experience with related SEO experience - minimum 1 year.
- High level of English proficiency. Strong English intuition for titles — a native-level feel for what makes an English-speaking tech audience click.
- Genuine YouTube-native SEO understanding — you think in CTR (title), retention, search intent, and browse/suggested traffic.
- If your instinct on “why will this video perform” is backlinks, meta tags, or domain authority, this isn’t the right fit.
- The ability to articulate why a title works — you can break it into principles, not “I like this one.”
- Hands-on experience with Ahrefs is required — it’s our primary keyword-research stack — and Semrush experience is a strong plus. Beyond the tools, solid research fundamentals: YouTube autocomplete, competitor title/tag mining, and Google Trends for timing. You weigh tool data with judgment rather than obeying scores.
- A data-over-ego mindset — when the data contradicts your taste, you follow it and figure out why.
- Reliable, proactive, and able to manage consistent volume across multiple channels without hand-holding.
- Clean documentation habit — sources and a one-line “why” with every recommendation.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with the tech / AI / SaaS / educational / Gadgets niches.
- AI SEO / GEO experience — understanding how content gets surfaced and cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini, ideally with hands-on use of AI-visibility / citation-tracking tools (Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, or Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit). This is about entity clarity, trusted sourcing, and structured content — not keyword stuffing.
- Experience building or improving an AI-assisted research workflow.
What We Offer
- Consistent, long-term work.
- A clear framework and structured briefs already in place — you research within a system, not from a blank page.
- Fast feedback and a professional, collaborative remote team.
- Access to current AI research and SEO tools and workflows.
- Room to grow with a fast-scaling media company.
Hiring Process
If this sounds like how you already think about titles: clicks first, reasoning over taste, and a real system to work inside — we’d love to see what you can do.
