The Role:

The User Experience Designer partners with Product and Engineering to build products that not only ship but also measurably help our users achieve their goals. This person defines work by desired user behavior outcomes, reduces delivery risk through research and experimentation, and helps keep the product aligned with the people who use it – aligning their needs with our business objectives.

This is a hands-on role requiring both strong craft and deep engagement in discovery, prototyping, validation, and delivery. The UX Designer is increasingly comfortable reasoning beyond the narrow focus of the task at hand to the broader question of how each decision fits within a greater user experience narrative, with guidance from senior designers as needed.

Success requires moving quickly from idea to evidence. We expect our designers to use AI tools to generate working, testable prototypes rather than stopping at static mockups, shortening the distance between a hypothesis and a real user reaction.

The Responsibilities:

Discovery & Research

• Define work in terms of desired user behavior outcomes rather than just implementing solutions.
• Help plan and execute research and experiments that reduce the risk of delivering a product no one needs.
• Conduct research with users and internal stakeholders, including remote and asynchronous formats.
• Help distinguish strategic user needs from individual requests, and validate problems before committing design effort, in partnership with senior designers and PMs.

Design & Prototyping

• Build prototypes appropriate to the question being answered: wire frames, functional prototypes, or other artifacts as needed, favoring the Minimum Viable Artifact.
• Use AI-assisted tools to rapidly produce functional prototypes, moving from concept to testable artifact in days rather than sprints, and iterating on what the evidence shows.
• Translate validated problems into interaction and interface designs that development can implement with clear intent and minimal ambiguity.
• Balance near-term delivery with consistency, reusability, and long-term experience health across the platform.

Design System & Accessibility

• Partner with development to translate designs into the visual language of our growing design system, maintaining consistency across our platform.
• Support the product's design-focused accessibility needs and help champion accessible outcomes early in the process rather than as remediation.
• Contribute patterns, documentation, and rationale to raise the quality and consistency of design decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Participate in and help facilitate collaborative conversations with colleagues and stakeholders to create a shared understanding of the problem before debating solutions.
• Partner with Engineering and Product to evaluate options and tradeoffs, surface constraints early, and provide the context needed for high-quality execution.
• Collaborate with Marketing and design colleagues to review and improve designs across the organization.
• Communicate design direction, research findings, and recommendations clearly to frontline and executive audiences, with support from senior team members.

The Desired Attributes:

• 3-5 years of User Experience Design experience, or equivalent demonstrated portfolio depth.
• Demonstrated ability to align work toward desired business and user outcomes.
• Experience building prototypes with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0, Lovable, Replit, or similar), with examples of work shipped or tested as a result.
• Comfortable reading and modifying front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS) sufficiently to shape a prototype directly.
• Strong prototyping and usability testing practice (Figma a plus).
• Experience running research exercises, especially remotely.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards and their application to product design.
• Comfortable designing within the constraints of an established platform.
• Technical writing ability is a plus; passionate about teaching or documentation.
• Open to receiving and giving constructive feedback.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas.
