JOB SUMMARY:
The Transition Counseling & Outreach position supports student transition success and enrollment growth by managing a caseload of college readiness students while leading recruitment and admissions efforts within an assigned region. This role guides students and families through the college readiness journey, from initial inquiry through program participation, while providing individualized coaching and support. Through relationship building, outreach, and student development, the mentor helps students gain the skills and confidence needed for a successful transition to college.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND responsibilities:
Counseling for Student Caseload
- Manage a caseload of college readiness students, providing individualized transition coaching and ongoing support.
- Develop and implement personalized transition plans addressing executive functioning, self-advocacy, social skills, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.
- Facilitate one-on-one coaching sessions and maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress.
- Design and deliver workshops, webinars, and programming for students and parents related to college readiness and transition-to-college topics.
- Monitor and document student progress, maintain accurate and timely records within institutional systems, and provide end-of-program reports and recommendations for continued student development.
- Serve as a resource to students, families, and professionals regarding Beacon College’s transition model and college readiness programming.
Recruitment & Admissions
- Manage a regional pipeline of prospective students for college readiness programs.
- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective students, families, professionals, schools, educational consultants, therapists, and other referral sources to generate interest, build relationships, and drive applications.
- Guide prospective students and families through the college readiness application process, including supporting completion of in-progress applications and required document collection.
- Meet defined goals related to recruitment activities, college readiness program applications, enrollments, and student outcomes.
- Represent Beacon College at conferences, events, webinars, and virtual programs to promote college readiness offerings.
- Utilize CRM and student information systems to track prospect engagement, application progress, conversion outcomes, and other required information.
- Partner with Admissions, College Readiness, and Marketing to support recruitment campaigns and enrollment strategies and transition prospective students from college readiness programs into the undergraduate admissions pipeline, ensuring alignment in communication, timing, and student readiness.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Master’s degree required in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience supporting students in educational, transition, advising, coaching, or college readiness programs; special education experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated understanding of executive functioning, learning differences, ADHD, evidence-based student support practices, student success strategies, enrollment processes, and higher education operations.
- Strong coaching and advising skills, including the ability to assess student needs, recommend appropriate interventions, adapt coaching approaches, and support students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively engage students, families, professionals, and other diverse audiences in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage both a student caseload and recruitment pipeline.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and student information systems; Salesforce preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, regional environment while remaining highly responsive, organized, and consistent.
- Ability to balance student support and recruitment responsibilities while building trust-based relationships with students and families navigating the transition-to-college process.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders and represent Beacon College professionally at recruitment events, webinars, presentations, and other programs.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support webinars, recruitment events, and student programming.
- Ability to maintain a professional and patient approach when working with students, parents, and other Beacon College community members.
ENVIRONMENT:
This position is fully remote and requires the ability to work effectively from a dedicated home office or other professional remote workspace. The role relies heavily on virtual communication and collaboration platforms, with regular interaction with students, families, faculty, staff, and external partners. Occasional travel to campus, conferences, recruitment events, or other College-related activities may be required.
