Qompyl is an early-stage fintech startup building a no-code platform that enables users to create, backtest, analyze, and monitor trading strategies.
Our mission is to make sophisticated quantitative trading tools more intuitive, visual, and accessible. We are developing a platform where accuracy, data integrity, and sound financial logic are essential to delivering a reliable and trustworthy user experience.
We are looking for a Trading Specialist – Product Quality & Validation with deep practical knowledge of trading, financial markets, and investment strategies.
The primary focus of this role is to test and validate Qompyl from a trader’s perspective. You will use your trading expertise to assess whether strategies, backtests, price points, portfolio calculations, performance metrics, and other platform results are financially accurate, realistic, and trustworthy.
You will also apply a structured approach to testing user flows, documenting issues, validating fixes, and supporting release readiness.
Previous formal experience in software Quality Control is valuable but not required. We are primarily looking for a strong trader with the analytical mindset, attention to detail, and curiosity needed to thoroughly test a fintech product.
You will work closely with Qompyl’s product, engineering, data, and trading contributors to identify issues, validate expected behavior, and help establish the quality standards required for a reliable trading platform.
Test Qompyl’s strategy-building, analysis, and backtesting workflows from an experienced trader’s perspective.
Validate entries, exits, price points, order logic, position sizing, and portfolio allocations.
Verify profit and loss calculations, returns, drawdowns, volatility, and other portfolio and performance metrics.
Confirm that fees, transaction costs, market-data inputs, and execution assumptions are correctly reflected in strategy results.
Assess whether backtesting results are financially reasonable and consistent with expected market behavior.
Identify discrepancies involving trading logic, historical data, financial calculations, or platform behavior.
Validate the accuracy and consistency of financial data, charts, reports, and strategy outputs.
Identify edge cases and realistic market scenarios that should be incorporated into the testing process.
Help define expected trading behavior and acceptance criteria for new product features.
Provide practical feedback on the platform’s usability, clarity, usefulness, and credibility for traders.
Develop and execute structured test scenarios for trading features and end-to-end user flows.
Test new features, bug fixes, and complete user journeys before releases.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing.
Identify, reproduce, document, prioritize, and track issues, including clear steps, evidence, expected results, and actual outcomes.
Track defects and quality-related items through JIRA, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
Validate data consistency across the user interface, APIs, databases, and integrated services.
Collaborate with product and engineering contributors to investigate issues and confirm fixes.
Help define acceptance criteria, release-readiness checklists, and product-quality standards.
Maintain reusable test scenarios, documentation, and regression checklists.
Support the continuous improvement of Qompyl’s product-validation and Quality Control processes.
Deep practical knowledge of trading and financial markets.
Professional or substantial hands-on experience trading, designing strategies, or evaluating investment and trading systems.
Experience interpreting and critically evaluating trading strategies and backtesting results.
Strong understanding of:
Orders, positions, entries, and exits.
Historical price data and price points.
Order types and execution assumptions.
Position sizing and portfolio allocation.
Profit and loss calculations.
Returns, drawdowns, volatility, and risk metrics.
Transaction costs, fees, and their impact on strategy performance.
Ability to determine whether trading results and financial calculations are realistic and logically consistent.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies.
Ability to clearly document issues, observations, and expected outcomes.
Clear written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed, asynchronous team.
Willingness to learn and apply structured product-testing and Quality Control practices.
Experience with systematic, quantitative, or algorithmic trading strategies.
Experience using trading platforms, broker applications, charting tools, portfolio-management systems, or backtesting platforms.
Familiarity with stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, or other financial instruments.
Experience testing fintech, trading, investment, or other data-intensive products.
Previous experience in software Quality Assurance, Quality Control, application testing, or product validation.
Familiarity with test plans, test cases, regression testing, and defect-tracking processes.
Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Postman, Git, Docker, or Azure.
Basic knowledge of APIs, SQL, Python, or automated testing frameworks.
Experience validating financial data across application interfaces, APIs, and databases.
You will work closely with Qompyl’s product, engineering, data, and trading contributors to ensure the platform is financially accurate, technically reliable, and genuinely useful to traders.
This role requires curiosity, precision, ownership, and healthy skepticism. We are looking for someone who will not simply confirm that a feature functions, but will question whether its behavior and results make sense in real trading scenarios.
You should be comfortable working independently, communicating asynchronously across time zones, taking ownership of investigations, and contributing your trading expertise in an evolving startup environment.
This is a part-time, equity-only role, suitable as a side engagement alongside a primary job or consulting work. The position will transition to compensated status after the MVP launch and once funding or sustainable revenue is secured.
If you're excited about joining an early-stage mission-driven startup and helping build a next-generation trading platform, we’d love to hear from you.
