As a Technical Trainer, you will deliver hands‑on, high‑impact training that equips distributors, integrators, technicians, and end users to confidently install, program, commission, and troubleshoot Potter Addressable Fire Alarm Systems and Potter ERCES BDA solutions, while also leading instructor‑led sessions across the U.S., creating digital learning content, supporting new product launches with technical training materials and videos, and serving as a trusted technical training expert—all in a role that requires frequent travel and a passion for helping customers succeed through effective instruction. What You’ll Do Design and develop training programs that serve multiple audiences, gathering feedback to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improving content based on product advancements, code updates, and industry best practices. Deliver live and virtual instruction on Potter Addressable Fire Alarm Systems, Potter ERCES BDA systems, and related technologies, leading hands‑on labs, product demonstrations, and practical exercises while assessing participant comprehension and engagement. Educate stakeholders on new product features through instructor‑led training, webinars, on‑demand learning, and virtual resources, and support product launches by creating training materials, videos, demonstrations, and customer education tools. Produce and maintain technical training content including videos, e‑learning courses, student guides, presentation decks, and technical reference documents, ensuring all materials remain current with product updates and industry standards. Collaborate across departments, including Regional Sales Managers, Product Management, Technical Services, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Support—to align training materials with product specifications and customer needs. Support team goals by taking on additional responsibilities as needed to meet project milestones and organizational objectives. QualificationsWhat You Bring Experience That Drives Success 3+ years of experience working with Fire Alarm Systems and Public Safety BDA Systems. 3+ years of hands‑on experience installing, servicing, integrating, commissioning, or designing fire alarm and/or ERCES/BDA/RF systems. Working knowledge of NFPA 72, IFC, IBC, NFPA 1225 and related fire and life safety standards. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or higher. NICET In‑Building Public Safety Communications (IB‑PSC) Level I or higher. Ability to travel 40–60% throughout the United States. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Experience delivering hands‑on technical training including product demos, lab exercises, and troubleshooting workshops. (preferred) Experience conducting RF surveys, signal grid testing, acceptance testing, and ERCES system commissioning. (preferred) Key Strengths & Skills Strong technical aptitude with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts related to fire alarm systems, RF communications, DAS, and ERCES/BDA technologies. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to teach technical concepts to audiences with varying experience levels. Acts with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions. Proactive time management and the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages of the product development cycle. Bias for action and the ability to work with a strong sense of urgency. Collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across teams and disciplines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Marketing. (preferred) Experience with Learning Management Systems (preferred). Experience producing technical videos and multimedia (preferred).
