The Leaving Violence Program provides financial and other support to help individuals who have left, or are leaving, a partner who uses violence. It is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to ending gender-based violence.

About the role

As a Team Leader, you’ll lead and support a team delivering trauma-informed services through the Leaving Violence Program. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, support service delivery outcomes, and foster a positive, high-performing team culture.

This role suits someone who enjoys leading people, managing operations, and working in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

 What you’ll be doing

  • Leading, coaching, and supporting frontline teams delivering trauma-informed services
  • Allocating work and managing team caseloads to support safe, timely, and effective service delivery
  • Monitoring team performance and day-to-day operational outcomes
  • Supporting rostering, workforce coordination, and real-time service operations
  • Managing escalations, approvals, and operational issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, systems, and fraud/risk stakeholders to support service outcomes
  • Conducting probation reviews, coaching, and performance management conversations
  • Using service data and insights to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Approving financial support packages for victim-survivors
  • Maintaining accurate reporting and operational documentation
  • Promoting a supportive, inclusive, and psychologically safe team culture


About you

  • Experience leading and developing teams, ideally within health, community, social services, or contact centre environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of family, domestic, and sexual violence, including trauma-informed practice and risk assessment principles
  • Experience supporting teams managing enhanced risk assessments and safety planning
  • Strong operational leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
  • Confident managing escalations, competing priorities, and complex situations
  • Positive, adaptable, and mindful approach to leadership and change
  • Calm, professional, and empathetic communication style
  • Exposure to payments and fraud management desirable
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, workforce management tools, and digital platforms
  • Committed to culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful practice
  • Completed degree qualification in social work, counselling, psychology, community services, or a related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for registration with PACFA, ACA, AASW, or AHPRA
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Available full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday–Friday between 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Able to work from home full-time with a suitable private workspace
  • Willingness to complete and maintain all required compliance checks, including a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Check, professional registration eligibility checks, Australian working rights verification, and reference checks
