The Tableau Developer will support the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on workflow-driven analytics and business intelligence reporting initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and developing dashboards, reports, and data visualization solutions that support agency operations and decision-making. The Tableau Developer will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, integrate data from multiple sources, and create visualizations that improve process visibility, performance monitoring, and operational efficiency. This role also provides data analysis, report optimization, and ongoing support for business intelligence initiatives. The Tableau Developer is expected to deliver accurate, efficient, and timely dashboards and workflow analytics solutions that maintain data integrity and support effective operational and executive decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
- Gathers and documents business requirements and translates them into reporting and analytics solutions.
- Integrates and validates data from multiple enterprise systems and databases.
- Develops workflow metrics, KPIs, scorecards, and performance-monitoring dashboards.
- Optimizes dashboard performance, data quality, and user experience.
- Troubleshoots and resolves reporting and data visualization issues.
- Creates technical and user documentation and provides knowledge transfer to DPS personnel.
- Supports ongoing enhancements, maintenance activities, and business intelligence initiatives as directed by DPS.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in an enterprise environment.
- 8 years of experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud, including dashboard design, data modeling, calculations, and performance optimization.
- 8 years of experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- 8 years of experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical reporting and analytics solutions.
- 8 years of experience integrating and validating data from multiple data sources, including enterprise systems and data warehouses.
- 8 years of knowledge of data visualization best practices, KPI development, and business intelligence reporting standards.
- 8 years of experience demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and quality assurance.
- 8 years of experience communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and working in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in regulated or government environments.
- 1 year of experience supporting workflow analysis, process improvement, and operational reporting.
Additional Requirements:
- Texas-based candidates are preferred.
- Services are expected to start 08/03/2026 and complete by 10/30/2026.
- Total estimated hours per candidate shall not exceed 150 hours.
- Work outside normal business hours (weekends, evenings, holidays) may be required.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays.
