As Senior Vice President, News, you will serve as the organization's top editorial leader, setting the vision and strategy for news across our local and national newsrooms while driving operational excellence within our support hub. This role is designed for a transformational executive who can navigate a rapidly evolving media landscape, foster innovation, lead high-performing teams, and position Scripps News Group for continued growth and impact across every platform where audiences consume news today and in the future.
Location: This remote role is open to candidates residing in states where Scripps maintains the necessary tax and employment registrations.
- Serve as thought leader and visionary for news strategy across all enterprise teams, local and national, spanning traditional broadcast, digital platforms, streaming services, and third-party distribution channels.
- Provide transformational leadership that inspires and motivates teams to achieve the organization's larger news mission.
- Align local and national content strategy and operations under unified editorial vision that is responsive to the needs of the consumer.
- Champion journalistic excellence and First Amendment principles in service of Scripps' mission.
- Provide strategic counsel and executive guidance to the President of Media on enterprise-wide news operations and growth initiatives.
- Advise on growth opportunities, mergers and acquisitions from news operations perspective.
- Oversee scalable operations strategy ensuring operational excellence across all news functions.
- Drive strategic advocacy positioning the organization as authoritative voice in industry.
- Serve as final arbiter for all editorial direction and news content across enterprise.
- Ensure journalistic integrity and adherence to editorial standards organization-wide.
- Oversee legal and compliance matters for news, partnering with counsel to mitigate risk.
- Safeguard journalistic principles while managing operational and legal considerations.
- Cultivate high-level institutional relationships with government, industry, and journalism organizations.
- Position organization as authoritative voice at key governmental and industry events.
- Drive strategic advocacy efforts advancing journalism and First Amendment protections.
- Represent Scripps mission and values in external forums and industry leadership roles.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience years of experience
- Generally, 10+ years of experience in related field preferred
- Demonstrated success leading senior news leaders and executive teams in a newsroom environment

- Legal or regulatory experience in media industry preferred
