Staff Geologist (Remote, Up to 75% Travel)
This Staff Geologist ensures the delivery of high-quality spring water collected in compliance with FDA/IBWA requirements and maintains up-to-date and readily accessible information on Niagara-utilized spring sources. The role will manage the evaluation and qualification of new spring and water well sources for expansion plants and as back up sources for existing facilities.
This position reports to the Principal Geologist.
Detailed Description - The Staff Geologist shall do, or supervise the Geologist I and II positions in doing, the following:
Technical Management and Monitoring of Niagara-Utilized Spring Sources.
- Be the primary point of contact for, and liaison to spring source owners fostering professional working relationships
- Maintain routine contact with all spring owners.
- Conduct as-needed, spring source audits to ensure compliance with Niagara operating requirements
- Monitor overall spring source water quality and any changes or trends over time
- Track spring source permits, expirations and renewals
- Develop and maintain database/documentation supporting spring SOI, hydrogeology, engineering and permits
- Be a technical resource to spring owners as they upgrade or modify their facilities
- Track regulatory changes pertaining to spring sources
- Maintain awareness of land use activities and potential contaminant threats in the vicinity of the spring sources
- Be the Niagara representative at regulatory and local community meetings (when necessary)
- Partner in spring improvement work under a cost-recovery agreement with the spring owner where appropriate an in conjunction with the Procurement team
Evaluate New Spring Water Sources for Expansion Projects and Ongoing Operations.
- Work with the Procurement and Expansion teams to identify spring sources in the vicinity of proposed Expansion facilities
- Evaluate the technical merits and viability of prospect spring sources
- Assist with spring site development layout/design
- Prepare planning cost estimates for improvements that may be necessary to bring prospect springs online
- Provide technical support to Niagara's Contracts Team
- Seek/develop opportunities for Niagara-owned spring sources
Spring Source Information System
- Work with staff to build database information on each spring source
- Maintain the water quality data base and provide statistics and graphing trends for spring sources when needed
Technical Management of Niagara-Owned Groundwater Water Supply Wells
- Water well siting, design, permitting, drilling and installation; testing and maintenance
- Aquifer testing and water quality sampling
- Documentation and report preparation
Customer Support
- Provide information to Niagara's Consumer Affairs Team to assist them in answering customer questions
- Meet with customers and make presentations as necessary to assure them of Niagara's spring source quality and integrity

Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 Years – Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment

Competencies
- Licensed Professional Geologist (National Association of State Boards of Geology)
- At least 6+ years of experience in the area of spring site evaluation, development, and permitting
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state specific spring source and well regulations
- Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to travel at least 75% of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk and hike over uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Education
- Minimum Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Geological Science or related field
- Preferred:
- Master's Degree (MS) in Geological Science or related field
