Department Overview

The Telecommunications Regulatory group is a team within the Law Department that manages Motorola Solutions' adherence to telecommunications laws and regulations, builds and administers telecommunications service compliance programs, advises on telecommunications regulatory and legal matters, and conducts advocacy on telecommunications policy issues that are important to the company. The group has global coverage and is active in supporting products and services for compliant entry into new markets worldwide.


Job Description

The Sr. Telecommunications Regulatory Counsel you will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Advising business stakeholders on telecommunications regulations and evaluating products and services for compliant market entry on a global scale.

  • Working with a variety of internal personnel to create and implement effective compliance programs for new regulatory obligations as services go to market.

  • Providing guidance on spectrum policy, regulatory positions, and licensing in support of MSI business objectives, and working with business stakeholders on spectrum license maintenance and compliance with license terms.

  • Formulating written comments to be filed with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., Federal Communications Commission) and working with industry associations to advance MSI’s interests on telecommunications issues. 

  • Advising on telecommunications regulatory strategy and procedural options as may be relevant in relation to potential commercial disputes and policy advocacy.

  • Conducting telecommunications due diligence, risk assessment, and integration for corporate mergers and acquisitions.

  • Developing training materials for compliance processes and internal education.

  • Ensuring senior management is fully briefed on major issues arising in relevant business areas and major regulatory changes in the area of expertise.

  • Seamlessly collaborating cross-functionally with the Company’s mid- to senior- level business managers and employees on business objectives.

Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Juris Doctor Degree.

  • 10+ years of telecommunications law experience.

  • Admitted to the bar in at least 1 state.

  • Knowledge of RF, spectrum, wireless communications, and the global radio communications industry.

  • Strong background in gathering and analyzing complex, technical information.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated writing ability with experience drafting items for submission to regulatory authorities.

  • Must be able produce professional and polished presentations.

  • Ability to think strategically across a diverse internal customer base.

Target Base Salary Range: $190,000 - $200,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
