About the Role 

As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll help design, develop, and deliver DCS’s software products, including DATUM, our Warehouse Execution System and Warehouse Control System (WES/WCS). Reporting to the VP of Software, you’ll contribute to research and development, customer projects, and the software product roadmap. 

You’ll bring hands-on technical expertise, lead design and development activities, and mentor developers and Software Delivery team members. You’ll work across an event-driven microservices architecture using modern open-source technologies for backend services, integrations, artificial intelligence, and user interfaces. This role includes approximately 15% travel to support commissioning at customer sites.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Partner with the VP of Software to help develop and execute software product strategies and the product roadmap. 
  • Design, develop, and improve DATUM to support customer needs and continued product growth. 
  • Provide full stack design and development across an event-driven microservices architecture. 
  • Use modern open-source frameworks to build backend services, integrations, AI capabilities, and user interfaces. 
  • Lead design and development activities for customer projects and research and development initiatives using Agile development and testing practices. 
  • Mentor entry-level and mid-level developers and Software Delivery team members. 
  • Support the Software Delivery team with integrated system commissioning at customer sites, with approximately 15% travel. 
  • Contribute across development, implementation, support, and IT activities as team and project needs require. 
  • Evaluate organizational performance data to identify improvement opportunities and help adapt team practices. 
  • Support technical innovation and continuous learning by staying current on relevant technologies and industry developments. 
  • Represent DCS and the Software team with professionalism, ethics, and integrity. 

We’re Excited About You Because... 

  • You have five or more years of experience in industrial software development. 
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. 
  • You have experience with open-source software frameworks and related development tools. 
  • You’re comfortable using the Linux command line and working with operating system services and configurations. 
  • You’re proficient with modern integrated development environments, Git for source control, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms such as Jira or Azure DevOps. 
  • You’re willing and able to travel approximately 15% to support customer commissioning. 
  • You enjoy sharing your expertise, mentoring others, and helping grow the DCS Software team. 
  • You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with customers, management, and teams across disciplines. 
  • You take ownership of your work and deliver results with minimal supervision, including in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. 
  • You approach complex problems creatively and can manage multiple tasks and projects.
