Sr. Sales Systems Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Sales Systems Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to some of Veeam’s largest and most strategic customers. Partnering closely with Enterprise Account Executives, you will own the technical strategy across a portfolio of named enterprise accounts, helping customers solve complex challenges around data resilience, cyber recovery, cloud transformation, and modern infrastructure.

You will lead the technical sales cycle from discovery through technical validation and close, translating business priorities into secure, scalable, and resilient architectures. Success in this role requires a strong combination of technical depth, business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to build credibility across complex enterprise organizations.

This aligns closely with Veeam’s current enterprise SE model, which emphasizes complex discovery, architecture validation, POCs, executive engagement, and technical closure. 

What You’ll Do

• Partner with Enterprise Account Executives to develop and execute technical strategies across assigned named accounts.
• Lead complex pre-sales engagements from discovery and solution design through demonstration, proof of concept, technical validation, and close. 
• Build trusted relationships with customer architects, infrastructure and security leaders, technical decision makers, and executive stakeholders.
• Translate customer business objectives, technical requirements, and risk considerations into resilient solution architectures across hybrid, multi-cloud, SaaS, and enterprise infrastructure environments. 
• Deliver compelling technical demonstrations, presentations, workshops, and executive-level discussions that connect Veeam’s capabilities to customer outcomes.
• Design and lead POCs with clearly defined success criteria, ensuring technical evaluations progress toward a decision and technical close.
• Work collaboratively with sales, specialist teams, channel partners, and technology alliances to develop cohesive technical strategies for strategic opportunities. Internal enterprise SE leadership materials similarly emphasize alignment between field sales, specialist teams, and customer technical stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks, competitive considerations, and architectural requirements early in the sales process and develop strategies to address them.
• Help expand relationships within existing enterprise customers while supporting the pursuit of new strategic accounts.
• Represent Veeam at customer briefings, industry events, executive meetings, and other field activities as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering, systems engineering, solutions engineering, solution architecture, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex enterprise or named accounts and navigating multi-stakeholder technical sales cycles.
• Proven ability to lead discovery, solution architecture, demonstrations, POCs, and technical validation through closure.
• Strong technical foundation across enterprise infrastructure, including data resilience/data protection, virtualization, cloud services, storage, networking, and security. 
• Experience designing solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Ability to translate highly technical concepts into clear business value for both technical and executive audiences.
• Strong presentation, communication, discovery, and storytelling skills.
• Ability to operate independently, prioritize strategic opportunities, and maintain accountability across a complex territory.
• A collaborative, customer-first approach and the curiosity to continuously develop technical and industry expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise backup, recovery, data resilience, cyber resilience, or data security technologies.
• Experience partnering directly with enterprise Account Executives on named-account strategies.
• Existing relationships or experience within large enterprise organizations in the assigned territory.
• Knowledge of modern cloud and infrastructure platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, virtualization, Kubernetes, and SaaS environments.
• Experience working across partner, channel, and technology alliance ecosystems.
