The Project Manager, Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services supports the growth, retention, and expansion of specialty pharmacy, infusion, ambulatory care, and clinical pharmacy programs nationwide.

This role serves as a specialty pharmacy subject matter expert and strategic consultant to health systems, specialty pharmacies, infusion providers, community health centers, and ambulatory care organizations. The Project Manager partners closely with client executive leadership and operational teams to lead implementations, drive operational excellence, support accreditation initiatives, and deliver measurable clinical and business outcomes.

The Project Manager manages a portfolio of client engagements and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives, operational improvements, regulatory readiness activities, and growth opportunities.

The ideal candidate brings deep specialty pharmacy operational knowledge and is equally comfortable functioning as a project manager, client advisor, account manager, and subject matter expert.

Key Responsibilities

Client Success, Consulting & Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 15-18 specialty pharmacy, hospital, infusion, ambulatory care, and community health center client engagements.

  • Serve as a specialty pharmacy subject matter expert and strategic consultant for client organizations.

  • Provide guidance regarding specialty pharmacy operations, accreditation readiness, growth strategies, workflow design, staffing models, technology adoption, payer readiness, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships focused on growth, performance, and customer success.

  • Facilitate executive-level discussions and provide ongoing program oversight and strategic consultation.

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead implementation, optimization, and strategic initiatives across specialty, ambulatory, retail, and infusion pharmacy settings.

  • Develop project charters, work plans, timelines, milestones, communication plans, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within scope.

  • Monitor project progress and proactively address barriers to execution.

  • Drive accountability across client and Cardinal Health stakeholders.

Accreditation, Compliance & Regulatory Readiness

  • Support clients pursuing or maintaining specialty pharmacy accreditation.

  • Conduct accreditation readiness assessments, operational reviews, and gap assessments.

  • Assist with URAC and ACHC readiness activities, documentation reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support survey preparedness activities and accreditation maintenance efforts.

  • Monitor regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements impacting specialty pharmacy operations.

Specialty Pharmacy Operations

  • Support operational design, workflow development, and implementation efforts.

  • Assist clients in establishing scalable, compliant specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care programs.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient outcomes, and financial performance.

  • Promote operational best practices across client programs.

  • Support development, expansion, optimization, and launch of specialty pharmacy and infusion pharmacy programs.

Business Growth & Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with Sales and leadership teams to identify growth opportunities and expansion initiatives.

  • Support development of business cases, operational assessments, and implementation roadmaps.

  • Assist clients with strategic planning and program development.

  • Contribute to client retention, program growth, and revenue generation initiatives.

Data Analytics & Performance Management

  • Monitor key performance indicators and client outcomes.

  • Analyze operational, quality, and financial metrics.

  • Develop executive-level reports and actionable recommendations.

  • Support continuous performance improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate effectively with Operations, Compliance, Clinical Services, Sales, Technology, Revenue Cycle, and Client Success teams.

  • Drive alignment across stakeholders and facilitate decision-making.

  • Support organizational change management initiatives.

  • Present recommendations and findings to executive leadership and operational stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Pharmacy, Nursing, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of specialty pharmacy, ambulatory pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, health system pharmacy, or related pharmacy operations experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex operational, implementation, accreditation, or strategic initiatives.

  • Experience collaborating with executive stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience presenting recommendations to healthcare leadership.

  • Strong client relationship management and consulting skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates possessing the following experience will be strongly preferred:

  • Specialty pharmacy operations experience.

  • Ambulatory care pharmacy experience.

  • Infusion pharmacy experience.

  • Hospital pharmacy experience.

  • URAC accreditation experience.

  • ACHC accreditation experience.

  • 340B program experience.

  • PMP certification.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification.

  • Experience with Epic, Compass Rose, Asembia, specialty pharmacy technology implementations, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions.

  • Experience supporting the development, expansion, launch, or optimization of specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care, or infusion pharmacy programs.

This position will work remotely but travel required up to 50% of the time

Anticipated salary range: $121,600-$156,330
