Sr. Manager, Marketing Content & Project Management

Manages a large team of marketing communications analysts and/or managers who are responsible for the execution of branding, messaging, and external engagement strategies. Ensures alignment across multi-channel communications, public relations, and corporate storytelling initiatives. Implements strategy and policy with a direct impact on the immediate or short-term (up to 1 year) marketing communications results, driving improvements in audience engagement, brand consistency, and corporate reputation management. Defines new communication approaches, optimizing media outreach, content development frameworks, and digital engagement strategies. Develops new marketing messaging strategies, promotional campaigns, content standards, or operational plans in support of the organization’s business strategies. Refines brand storytelling, enhances global communication efforts, and strengthens executive messaging platforms. Works on problems and issues that are typically undefined and require broad-based solutions based on expertise and considerations of multiple dimensions, such as shifting audience perceptions, evolving market conditions, and adapting messaging approaches to digital transformation trends. Interacts with senior management on matters concerning several functional areas, department-wide communication priorities, and corporate messaging strategies. Regularly needs to influence or persuade others in sensitive, complex situations while preserving relationships, such as guiding senior leadership on brand positioning, negotiating communication partnerships, and ensuring strategic messaging consistency across the organization.

Contractor Role: Marketing Content & Project Management Sr. Manager 

Reports to: Director, VWR & Partnership Marketing 
Direct Reports: Three marketing team members 

Position Summary 

The Marketing Content & Project Management Manager will oversee a team of three and lead the planning, coordination, and execution of marketing content and campaigns supporting VWR’s commercial and customer engagement priorities. 

This role will manage projects across publications, webinars, promotions, translations, and the Project GROW email workstream. The manager will establish priorities, assign work, manage timelines, remove execution barriers, and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule. 

Working closely with VWR Marketing, Partnership Marketing, Regional Marketing, Marketing Operations, Portfolio Marketing, and commercial stakeholders, this role will bring structure and accountability to marketing workflows across multiple channels and regions. 

Primary Responsibilities 

Team Leadership 

• Provide day-to-day direction, prioritization, and support to three direct reports. 

• Assign work based on project priorities, capacity, skills, and deadlines. 

• Establish clear expectations, timelines, ownership, and quality standards. 

• Monitor workload, project progress, and deliverable completion. 

• Coach team members and support their professional development. 

• Foster collaboration, accountability, and proactive problem-solving. 

• Identify resource constraints and escalate issues to the Director as needed. 

Marketing Project Management 

• Manage end-to-end marketing projects from intake and planning through development, review, approval, translation, and delivery. 

• Build project timelines, workback schedules, deliverable lists, and status updates. 

• Coordinate dependencies across internal teams, agencies, suppliers, translators, and regional stakeholders. 

• Track project progress, risks, decisions, and outstanding actions. 

• Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear documentation. 

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to brand and quality standards. 

Publications, Webinars, and Promotions 

• Oversee the development and delivery of publications, including guides, magazines, catalogs, brochures, and campaign materials. 

• Coordinate webinar content, speakers, registration, promotional assets, technology, and follow-up communications. 

• Manage promotional campaign assets, product information, creative development, approvals, translations, and launch requirements. 

• Maintain project calendars and ensure activities align with broader marketing priorities. 

Translation and Localization 

• Oversee the translation and localization workflow for marketing content across priority languages and regions. 

• Coordinate translation requests, source files, vendor communications, reviews, approvals, and final delivery. 

• Ensure localized content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with regional requirements. 

Project GROW Email Workstream 

• Oversee the Project GROW email workstream, including content planning, approvals, translations, scheduling, and deployment. 

• Maintain the email calendar and coordinate communications across stakeholders. 

• Ensure email content, audiences, links, product information, and calls to action are accurate. 

• Partner with Marketing Operations and regional teams to support timely execution. 

• Track email performance and document results, learnings, and follow-up actions. 

Cross-Functional Coordination 

• Work closely with VWR Marketing, Partnership Marketing, Regional Marketing, Marketing Operations, Portfolio Marketing, Sales, and commercial stakeholders. 

• Translate project requirements into clear plans, responsibilities, and deadlines. 

• Promote transparent prioritization, timely feedback, and consistent project governance. 

• Escalate scope, resource, approval, or timing issues when necessary. 

Reporting and Continuous Improvement 

• Maintain project status reports, campaign calendars, and delivery dashboards. 

• Track milestones, asset completion, translation status, approvals, and launch readiness. 

• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, templates, intake processes, and execution timelines. 

• Recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, and consistency. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Project Management, or a related field preferred. 

• Five or more years of experience in marketing project management, content operations, marketing communications, or campaign execution. 

• Experience managing publications, email marketing, webinars, promotions, or digital campaigns. 

• Experience leading or supervising a team, preferably in a matrixed marketing organization. 

• Experience coordinating translations or localized marketing content preferred. 

• Strong experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. 

• Experience working with creative, marketing operations, regional, commercial, or external agency teams. 

• Familiarity with project management, marketing workflow, email marketing, or content management platforms.
