AI Summary

You will serve as the technical lead for integration and automation, defining architecture and standards across Finance, HR, and Go-to-Market systems. Additionally, you will mentor a cross-functional team and drive the company's AI and automation initiatives.

Ready to be a Titan?

ServiceTitan's Finance Business Technology team is seeking a Sr Lead engineer , Integration & Automations to serve as the technical cornerstone of our integration and automation practice. This is a newly created role designed to elevate the maturity, reliability, and strategic impact of our integration estate across Finance, Revenue, Billing, People Technology, and Go-to-Market.

You will own the end-to-end technical vision for how our enterprise systems connect - spanning Workday Financials, Workday HCM, Workato, Salesforce, and a growing ecosystem of SaaS platforms. You will set and enforce engineering standards, lead architecture reviews, and serve as the primary technical partner to senior Finance, HR, and GTM stakeholders. You will also partner with and technically guide a cross-functional team of integration engineers and automation specialists across US and India-based pods.

This role is equal parts architect, technical lead, and team enabler. You will report directly to the Director of G&A Systems and play a central role in driving our AI and Automation goals.

What you'll do:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Define and maintain the integration architecture across Finance, Revenue, People Tech, and Go-to-Market domains, ensuring designs are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards

  • Author and enforce integration design guidelines, coding standards, SLAs, and tiering frameworks based on business criticality - including patterns for error handling, idempotency, retry logic, and alerting

  • Lead architecture reviews for all net-new integrations and significant enhancements across the team's functional pods; own the final technical design decision on high-complexity builds

  • Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and integration patterns to support the evolving roadmap; assess build-vs-configure tradeoffs across iPaaS, native connectors, and custom API development

  • Conduct an audit of the current integration estate, identify technical debt and failure-prone patterns, and build and execute a prioritized hardening roadmap

  • Define and evolve the integration tier model - classifying integrations by business criticality and enforcing appropriate monitoring, SLA, and change management standards for each tier

Hands-On Engineering

  • Optimize and maintain complex integrations in Workday Studio (EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, XSLT) and Workato, including net-new builds and major refactors of existing integrations

  • Develop reusable integration components, transformation templates, and shared libraries that reduce build time and enforce consistency across the team

  • Build and maintain API-based integrations connecting Workday, Salesforce, Snowflake, Avalara, Workato, and other platforms using REST/SOAP, JSON/XML, OAuth, and event-driven patterns

  • Own integration monitoring and alerting - instrumenting integrations with proactive health checks and ensuring failures surface before stakeholders notice them

  • Perform deep root cause analysis on critical integration failures; produce post-incident documentation and implement systemic fixes to prevent recurrence

Team Leadership & Development

  • Partner with the Manager to recruit, onboard, and develop integration talent across US and India-based pods

  • Run Integration & Automation grooming sessions - the biweekly stakeholder-facing forum where new integration requests are triaged, scoped, and sized before entering the cross-functional prioritization process

  • Serve as the L3 escalation point for integration incidents across all pods; ensure root cause analysis and preventive follow-up are completed for all critical failures

  • Foster a culture of documentation, runbook discipline, and knowledge sharing across onshore and offshore team members

Automation Program

  • Partner with the Manager to drive the AI and automation delivery pipeline, ensuring the backlog is continuously groomed and prioritized by impact

  • Identify and champion high-value automation opportunities surfaced through stakeholder grooming sessions and the automation initiative pipeline

  • Ensure all automation solutions are production-grade - monitored, documented, and resilient to upstream system changes

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the senior technical point of contact for Finance, People Tech, Revenue, Billing, and GTM stakeholders on integration-related matters

  • Translate complex integration and architecture concepts into clear, business-relevant communication for non-technical audiences

  • Participate in the Cross-Functional Prioritization Meeting, providing architectural input and capacity guidance to inform sprint planning

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise integration engineering, systems architecture, or a senior integration role

  • Proven hands-on experience with Workato or a comparable iPaaS platform (MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica); able to design, build, and maintain complex multi-step recipes and error-handling workflows independently

  • Hands-on expertise in Workday Studio - including EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and XSLT; ability to build and troubleshoot complex Studio integrations without vendor support

  • Strong command of integration architecture patterns: REST and SOAP API design, event-driven and pub/sub architecture, data transformation, idempotency, retry and dead-letter handling

  • Experience building API integrations against Salesforce (REST/Bulk API), Workday, Snowflake, or similar platforms; comfort reading and writing JSON, XML, and XSLT

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams including offshore or distributed engineers; able to set the technical bar, conduct design reviews, and develop engineers below you

  • Experience building or maturing integration governance frameworks - tiering models, design standards, SLA frameworks, and monitoring and alerting practices

  • Ability to independently audit an integration estate, produce a prioritized technical debt roadmap, and execute against it

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; equally comfortable in a design review with engineers and a planning conversation with senior Finance or HR leaders

  • Experience working in a SaaS or high-growth technology company where agility and cross-functional collaboration are the norm

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered

NICE TO HAVE

  • Workday certification in Studio, Financials, or HCM

  • Experience with Salesforce integrations in a Revenue or Billing context, including CPQ or Salesforce Billing data flows

  • Familiarity with SQL and Snowflake for validating data flows, debugging transformation logic, and supporting Finance analytics use cases

  • Exposure to SOX-compliant integration environments and the documentation and audit requirements associated with them

  • Experience building out a greenfield integration practice or leading a team through a significant maturity uplift

  • Familiarity with Workday Orchestrate or event-driven automation patterns within the Workday platform
