Job Summary:

In your pivotal role as a Senior Healthcare Research Financial Specialist, you will plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports to assess the viability of long-range strategic and financial plans and programs including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; monitor results from program and project implementation; perform complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; perform lead role in coordinating complex projects; perform primarily post-award financial activities. This role is responsible for ensuring VUMC policies and terms and conditions of sponsored projects are followed.

This position will work normal business hours Monday – Friday and offers the opportunity to work remotely.

Minimum Qualifications:
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience.
• Extensive experience in research administration is preferred.

Preferred experience and skills:
• Strong experience in post-award research administration

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Serve as a member of the VICTR research administration team
• Manage post-award accounting functions for assigned areas in compliance with sponsor, institution, and federal guidelines and deadlines
• Monitor compliance for research activities
• Analyze and develop budgets, prepare financial projections, and coordinate allocation of project effort among multiple funding sources, including extramural and academic program support funds
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to leaders and commitment recipients affiliated with VICTR
• Coordinate with team to develop and facilitate contract agreements with industry and sub-recipient partners
• Serve as a resource to faculty and institute leadership on matters related to grants management and clinical trials administration

- The process of evaluating businesses, projects, budgets, etc. to determine their performance, stability and profitability.

- Communicates results and recommendations to customers in a concise and non-technical format. Clearly states implications and potential next steps. Presents analysis, ideas, and findings using the appropriate data visualization and presentation tools [such as Word, Excel, Tableau, and PowerPoint].

Problem Solving (Advanced)

- Uses critical thinking and process improvement i.e. coaches and mentors development of problem statement, describes current state, identifies root causes, creates future state, coaches and mentors development of solutions and action plans with a sustainability plan. Applies appropriate tools to address issues.

Project Management (Advanced)

- Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

Written Communication (Advanced)

- Demonstrates the ability to write clear, detailed, and comprehensive status reports, memos and documentation. Demonstrates an understanding of effective composition, such as having first line in a paragraph state the subject.

Peer Leadership (Novice)

- The ability to show leadership and influence people of equal rank in an effort to accomplish team goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) (Required)

• Demonstrated expertise with post award management of federal projects in an educational/hospital environment
