SUMMARY

The Senior Staff Accountant is an experienced member of the accounting team responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, and ensuring timely completion of recurring accounting activities. This role provides accounting expertise, mentorship, and work review support to the accounting team, with the potential to directly manage up to three Staff Accountants depending on the final reporting structure.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP.
  • Create and distribute customer invoices for weekly and monthly variable billing.
  • Process client contracts and initiate billing.
  • Provide oversight, mentorship, and work review support for Staff Accountants; may directly manage a team of up to three Staff Accountants depending on the final reporting structure.
  • Assist in the management of finance queues to ensure timely turnaround and accurate resolution of accounting-related requests.
  • Reconcile and maintain data across various databases and spreadsheets.
  • Perform proper revenue recognition for recurring, subscription-based, and one-time invoices.
  • Support the preparation and review of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements in accordance with company accounting policies and applicable guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • Support monthly and year-end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting process improvements.
  • Support other accounting projects and assist with automation and process improvement efforts.
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to three years of experience in an IT, cybersecurity, or GRC-related field (preferred).
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, OCEG GRCP.
  • Knowledge of Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) practices is a plus.
  • Basic operational capabilities for the Office 365 stack (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong ability to direct self-work with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Critical and creative thinking to strategize how to add value to customer engagements and improve processes.
  • Exceptional spelling and grammar skills for writing and proofreading documents.
  • Ability to remain flexible as processes continuously improve.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting or finance experience required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting controls, financial reporting principles, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience reviewing others’ work, mentoring accounting team members, or managing employees required.
  • SaaS, recurring revenue, subscription billing, or similar revenue recognition experience preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • ConnectWise experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to support regular overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Driven, self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.

Job Requiremenst:
  • Should be willing to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement.
  • Should be amenable to a permanent night shift schedule.
