Sr Engineer (S)

      

The Core Client - CRM team builds and supports the enterprise capabilities that power how Thrivent understands, manages, and strengthens client relationships. Our Salesforce platform sits at the heart of the client experience, connecting advisors, service teams, and business partners with the information and tools they need to serve clients effectively and confidently.

As the Senior Salesforce Engineer you will be a trusted technical expert, integrating enterprise solution with Salesforce Sales Cloud - Service Cloud. This role is responsible for designing, documenting, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining solutions that meet the needs of our business partners. The Senior Salesforce Engineer collaborates with product partners, engineering leaders, architects, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions, reduce risk, and drive meaningful business outcomes.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Solution Architecture and Systems Design

• Review and understand user stories, acceptance criteria, and business requirements.
• Partner with the Lead Salesforce Engineer to define solutions that align with Salesforce best practices, enterprise technical strategies, and product priorities.
• Translate complex business needs into maintainable and scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in technical design discussions and document important solution decisions.
• Deliver solutions that meet expectations for quality, stability, scalability, security, and resilience.

Application Implementation and Maintenance

• Design and develop Salesforce solutions using configuration, customization, and appropriate integration patterns.
• Implement new features and enhancements using established engineering standards and approved change-management processes.
• Develop and maintain Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, integrations, and supporting platform capabilities.
• Conduct unit testing including functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
• Provide ongoing support for service requests, routine maintenance, production incidents, and general application operations.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Salesforce and connected enterprise systems.
• Continuously improve solutions to strengthen system stability, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
• Use automation to streamline testing, improve delivery workflows, and reduce manual processes.
• Support observability and monitoring capabilities that enable proactive issue detection, notification, and response.
• Contribute to improvements in CI/CD, DevOps, development standards, and engineering practices.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Help engineers build foundational development, testing, troubleshooting, and solution-design skills.
• Share product and domain knowledge so other team members can grow and contribute effectively.
• Apply technical expertise to help the team investigate and resolve complex software issues.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, business partners, and other technology teams.
• Contribute to reusable patterns, technical documentation, engineering standards, and team best practices.
• Participate in the broader technology community through internal forums, industry events, open-source contributions, or personal technology projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

 Required:

• 7 years of experience working in a Salesforce engineering environment.
• Deep expertise in Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. 
• Proficiency in Apex, including classes, triggers, and Batch Apex, as well as JavaScript, Lightning Web Components, and Visualforce.
• Experience with Salesforce integration and data technologies, including REST, SOAP, Change Data Capture, Platform Events, SOQL, and SOSL.
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce configuration and automation capabilities, including custom objects, approval processes, Flow, and Data Loader.
• At least 3 years of recent experience with several enterprise integration or platform technologies, such as Java, Spring Boot, REST or SOAP APIs, Confluent Kafka, OpenShift, Docker, TC Server, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices, including tools such as Visual Studio Code or IntelliJ, Salesforce CLI, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Jira.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Salesforce and connected systems, including sharing and visibility challenges, bulk data operations, Apex errors, integrations, and external callouts.
• Experience working in an DevOps product environment and collaborating directly with product owners and business stakeholders.

 Preferred: 

• Salesforce Administrator and Platform Developer certifications

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $120,467.00 - $162,984.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
