Software Solutions Specialist

North America LBM

About us

Founded in 1992, GenetiQ is a global software company delivering flexible business management solutions to independently owned businesses in the lumber and building materials industry.

Our innovative cloud ERP solution, GenetiQ, is purpose-built for dealers, retailers, wholesalers and distributors — providing the tools they need to grow, adapt and thrive.

As we continue to expand across North America, we are looking for people who understand the LBM industry from the inside: people who have worked with dealers, distributors, buying groups, legacy ERP products, operational teams and real-world business processes.

Executive summary

The Software Solutions Specialist is a senior customer-facing role designed to bring deep North American LBM knowledge directly into GenetiQ implementation projects.

This role is not a traditional implementation consultant position. It is a specialist role for someone who can lead from industry experience, challenge assumptions, guide customers through operational decisions, and ensure GenetiQ is implemented in a way that reflects how LBM businesses actually work.

The Software Solutions Specialist will work across customer projects, delivery teams, product teams and development teams to accelerate adoption, reduce implementation risk, and influence product direction through real project experience.

The role exists to ensure that GenetiQ is not simply configured for customers, but shaped around credible, practical and commercially relevant LBM operating models.

Role Definition

The Software Solutions Specialist acts as a practical bridge between the North American LBM market and GenetiQ's internal teams.

The role will be directly involved in GenetiQ implementation projects, using prior experience with LBM operations, legacy ERP products, business processes and customer workflows to help customers make better decisions and help GenetiQ deliver better outcomes.

The role has four primary objectives:

1. Project leadership through industry expertise
Lead and influence customer implementation projects from the perspective of real-world LBM operational knowledge.

2. Customer outcome acceleration
Help customers adopt proven processes, reduce unnecessary customization, and make confident decisions during discovery, design, validation and go-live readiness.

3. Product influence through project evidence

Identify where GenetiQ needs to evolve by surfacing functional gaps, usability friction, workflow challenges and recurring customer needs from live projects.

4. Internal enablement

Educate consultants, project managers, product owners and developers on North American LBM practices, legacy ERP behaviours and customer expectations.

Why this role matters

GenetiQ's success in North America depends on more than software capability. It depends on our ability to understand how LBM businesses really operate and to translate that understanding into successful implementations, better product decisions and stronger customer confidence.

Many customers will be moving from long-established legacy products. They will expect GenetiQ to understand their language, processes, operational pressures and industry norms.

The Software Solutions Specialist provides that credibility.

This role will help GenetiQ:

  • De-risk complex customer implementations.

  • Improve the quality of discovery and solution design.

  • Reduce rework caused by misunderstood operational requirements.

  • Help customers adopt best-practice LBM workflows.

  • Strengthen the link between project delivery and product development.

  • Build market credibility in the North American LBM sector.

  • Turn project learning into reusable templates, playbooks and product insight.

Core responsibilities

1. Customer project solution leadership

  • Act as a senior industry specialist on GenetiQ implementation projects.

  • Lead or support discovery sessions with customer executives, owners, managers and operational teams.

  • Translate customer requirements into practical LBM process designs.

  • Challenge customer requests where legacy habits may create unnecessary complexity.

  • Help customers understand how GenetiQ can support modern, scalable ways of working.

  • Support project teams during design, configuration, validation, testing and go-live readiness.~

2. LBM operational expertise

  • Bring practical knowledge of North American LBM operations into each project.

  • Advise on workflows across purchasing, inventory, pricing, contractor sales, dispatch, estimating, rebates, EDI, warehouse operations, branch management and multi-location distribution.

  • Understand how legacy ERP products have shaped customer expectations and ways of working.

  • Help identify where customers need process change, not just software configuration.

  • Provide informed guidance on industry norms, exceptions and commercially important workflows.

3. Product influence and functional feedback

  • Identify functional gaps, usability issues and workflow friction during implementation projects.

  • Work with Product and Development to explain the operational impact of customer requirements.

  • Help validate whether proposed solutions will work in real LBM environments.

  • Prioritize product feedback based on customer impact, repeatability and market relevance.

  • Contribute to product design discussions by bringing evidence from live projects.

  • Develop reusable templates, examples, workflows and implementation guidance.

  • Coach internal teams on how to handle LBM-specific customer scenarios.

  • Support onboarding of new team members by sharing industry and legacy product knowledge.

5. Customer and executive engagement

  • Build credibility with customer executives, owners and operational leaders.

  • Act as a trusted advisor during workshops, project reviews, steering meetings and escalation discussions.

  • Help customers make informed decisions where there are competing operational, technical and commercial priorities.

  • Represent GenetiQ as a knowledgeable LBM partner rather than a generic software provider.

  • Support strategic customers where operational misalignment or product uncertainty could put outcomes at risk.

6. Market and legacy product insight

  • Maintain awareness of North American LBM market trends, customer expectations and competitive pressures.

  • Bring informed knowledge of legacy ERP products and competitor ecosystems, including Epicor, BisTrack, Spruce, DMSi, Agility and related solutions.

  • Help GenetiQ understand what customers value, what they are used to, and where they are likely to resist change.

  • Feed market insight into delivery planning, product prioritization and internal enablement.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of LBM industry knowledge, ERP experience, customer credibility and practical delivery judgement.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • 10+ years working in or around the North American LBM industry.
