The Software Engineer II will design, implement, and maintain major features and services while ensuring high-quality, efficient code. They will also mentor junior engineers, lead root-cause analysis for complex defects, and collaborate across functions to deliver technical solutions.

Job Summary:
The Software Engineer II role may own a major feature, service, or technical workstream inside a product area. This role turns product and business requirements into credible technical solutions, partners across engineering and product functions, and improves the quality, reliability, and maintainability of the software it touches. The Software Engineer II is expected to handle solution ambiguity, make sound trade-offs, and elevate the engineering habits of the team.
The Gig:
Deliver clean, efficient code based on sprint commitments and following code standards and best practices.
Design, implement, test, deploy, and support major features, services, or substantial portions of team software.
Make sound design trade-offs involving maintainability, performance, dependencies, delivery speed, and operational risk.
Write code that is easy for other engineers to understand, modify, and operate.
Lead root-cause analysis for complex defects and leave systems better than you found them.
Provide constructive code reviews and actively contribute to design discussions, planning, and operational excellence reviews.
Improve development, testing, deployment, documentation, or support mechanisms for the team.
Use approved AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and documentation while critically reviewing generated output for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Mentor newer engineers and help onboard teammates to your team’s software, architecture, and operational practices.
Extensive knowledge of JAVA, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, Object-Oriented Programming and Relational Databases (Oracle).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Comply with all policies and standards.
What you need to make the cut:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, Software Engineering, or related degree or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience designing and building stable, maintainable, and performant software or services.
Strong coding ability in at least one modern programming language and comfort working across a typical software delivery lifecycle.
Experience with code reviews, design trade-offs, debugging, testing, and production support.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with APIs, integrations, cloud platforms, observability tooling, relational or NoSQL databases, or distributed systems.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools productively and responsibly, including validating generated output.
Experience in benefits administration, HR technology, regulated SaaS, or other complex B2B systems. Experience with LINUX, Eclipse IDE, GIT, JIRA, Agile Development Methodology and XSL is a plus.
Experience of development in the following areas is helpful: AWS and AWS Lambda’s. User interface development. Mobile development with HTML5 or Swift. Bootstrap, JQuery, or React Native. Billing and Payroll. Data import/export, SSO, or large-scale EDI.
The pay range for this position is 75K to 130K per year (pay to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data).
This role is eligible to participate in the quarterly bonus incentive plan.
