Skybox/VFX Artist

As a Skybox/VFX Artist, you'll be embedded in the client's art team, creating skies, atmospherics and environmental effects that set the mood of the game's world.

The role

• Create skyboxes, sky domes, clouds, weather and time-of-day setups

• Build environmental and atmospheric VFX such as fog, dust, rain, ambient particles and distant vistas

• Author effects in Niagara and Unreal's sky and atmosphere systems, working closely with lighting

• Keep effects readable and performant in busy co-op scenes with multiple players on screen

• Work with environment, lighting and technical art teams to deliver a consistent look across the world

What you'll need

• Shipped credits on at least one successful Action, Adventure or RPG title on console

• Experience on co-op or multiplayer projects

• 2 to 5 years in a VFX, environment or lighting art role

• Strong experience with Niagara and the sky, atmosphere and volumetric cloud systems in Unreal Engine 4 or 5

• Solid understanding of real-time performance and optimisation on console

• A portfolio or reel showing skies, atmospherics or environmental effects

• Comfortable working remotely and independently inside a larger studio team

Nice to have

• Houdini, EmberGen or similar for simulation and texture creation

• Matte painting or photography skills

• Experience with dynamic weather systems
