The Opportunity:

Are you a Technical Artist, CG Generalist, or Shot Finaler looking for your next big opportunity? We are staffing up for a new Marvel Studios streaming series, and we are looking for detail oriented Shot Finaling Artists to join our team! 

In this role, you are the ultimate quality protector for our pipeline. You will be responsible for undoing technical hiccups, fixing character deformations, and polishing shots so they transition seamlessly from Animation into Lighting and Compositing. If you have a sharp eye for detail and love the satisfaction of fixing complex technical puzzles, we want to talk to you.

In this role, success looks like:

Technical Polish and Quality Control

  • Assess and repair animated assets so they meet both creative and technical standards before hitting the lighting and compositing floor.
  • Fix technical issues including bad contact, floating assets, camera jitters, mesh intersections, pops, and abnormal character deformations.
  • Perform thorough quality checks on shots moving through the pipeline, ensuring clean publishes from Animation into Lighting.
     

Troubleshooting and Workflow

  • Spot repeat fix requirements across shots, flag pipeline bottlenecks early, and propose smart solutions to save time.
  • Troubleshoot technical shot issues independently while knowing when to ask for supervisor input.
  • Track incoming and outgoing shots meticulously using Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid).
     

Collaboration and Handoffs

  • Work closely with the Animation, Rigging, Lighting, and Compositing teams to ensure smooth upstream and downstream handoffs.
  • Take direction gracefully, adapt quickly to production pivots, and maintain clear, positive communication with department leads.
     

The Requirements

Must Haves:

  • Experience: Previous production experience in animated series or animated feature work.Artists with animation experience, a strong technical eye, a desire to do investigative problem solving and shot cleanup, are very welcome!
  • Software: Strong proficiency with Maya.
  • Core Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, a solid understanding of movement and weight, and a genuine passion for troubleshooting technical glitches.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. You know how to ask clarifying questions to get the fix right the first time.
  • Eligibility: You must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia.
     

Nice to Haves:

  • Solid understanding of downstream pipeline dependencies in Nuke, Katana, Arnold, or Renderman.
  • Experience technically navigating multiple pipelines from Layout through to Compositing
  • Previous CG Generalist experience or a strong understanding of the full pipeline from Layout through Compositing.
  • Working knowledge of Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid).
