About the Job

We're looking for a process-driven Senior Website Project Manager who brings structure and strategic oversight to every phase of a project and sets the standard for how our project management team works. This role focuses on managing the systems, workflows, and communications that keep client-facing Drupal and/or WordPress projects moving forward, ensuring clarity across teams, maintaining accurate project tracking, and continuously seeking opportunities to improve and streamline how we deliver high-quality digital work.

As a Senior Website Project Manager at Kanopi Studios, you'll guide a mix of Drupal and/or WordPress build and support projects from kickoff through completion, including some of our largest and most complex accounts. You're a client advocate and a strategic partner, and the problem-solver the team counts on when things get complicated. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams of UX/UI designers, developers, and strategists to ensure each project delivers quality, value, and a bit of Kanopi magic.

This senior-level role requires someone with extensive agency experience leading Drupal and/or WordPress projects. You bring a deep understanding of project life cycles, the judgment to flex between build initiatives and nimble support sprints, and the confidence to guide and mentor other project managers.

Requirements

As a Senior Website Project Manager, your typical day may include: 

Client & Project Leadership

• Manage a portfolio of projects across the build and support spectrum, including high-visibility accounts with complex technical and client needs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for clients, ensuring smooth communication and exceptional service delivery.
• Understand each client's business needs and effectively communicate them to the internal team to ensure alignment.
• Know when to push back on behalf of Kanopi's best interests, when to escalate situations to Management, and how to resolve most issues independently before they reach that point.
• Proactively identify opportunities for larger projects and initiatives, and bring clear recommendations to the Management team.
• Gain a deep understanding of the client websites you manage so you can proactively recommend improvements.
• Lead client communications with clarity and empathy, facilitating meetings, demonstrating new features, articulating next steps, sharing updates, and translating technical concepts into plain language.
• Build positive, long-lasting relationships that encourage contract renewals and account growth.
  

Planning & Execution

• Lead project and client onboarding, kickoff calls, and transitions between build and support.
• Curate and maintain organized, prioritized backlogs that keep project teams focused and work moving forward.
• Critically evaluate tasks and client requests for strategic fit with client goals and project scope, recommending alternatives when needed.
• Personally handle "quick win" Drupal and/or WordPress site configurations, content entry, and initial bug troubleshooting before escalating to the development team.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve blockers and anticipate needs.
• Forecast and coordinate internal resources, including front-end and back-end developers, UX/UI designers, and strategists, based on timing, scope, and expertise.
  

Quality, Budget, and Timeline Oversight

• Review completed work (designs, tickets, content, and development) to ensure it meets Kanopi's quality standards before client handoff.
• Monitor and forecast budgets and timelines to ensure tasks are completed on time and within scope, while providing regular updates to clients and Kanopi management on hours used and project progress.
• Flag risks early and lead the team in resolving and mitigating issues.
• Expedite urgent requests, triage issues quickly, and manage escalations, particularly within support accounts.
  

Tools & Team Collaboration

• Use tools like Teamwork, Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Claude to stay organized and maintain transparency.
• Use AI tools like Claude to speed up everyday project work, such as drafting client communications, summarizing meetings, writing tickets, and preparing status updates, while reviewing everything for accuracy before it goes out.
• Participate in and help lead team meetings, standups, retrospectives, and collaborative discussions that drive ongoing process improvements and a positive team culture.
• Monitor team workloads and pacing to help maintain a sustainable, healthy balance, identifying early signs of strain or burnout in yourself and others and proactively adjusting priorities when needed.
• Build and document repeatable processes that improve project success and team satisfaction.
• Mentor and support other project managers, sharing best practices and serving as a go-to resource for the PM team.

About the Compensation and Work Requirements

This is a full-time position. The starting salary for this role will fall within the range of $75,400.00 - $93,668.00. This range reflects the full good-faith range we reasonably expect to pay for this role across all eligible locations; where you fall within it will depend on your experience and skills, in alignment with current members of our team in similar roles.

This is a 100% remote role. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US or Canada and be available for regular collaboration during Pacific Time Zone business hours. We are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

We are looking for candidates who…

• Have 5+ years of digital agency project management experience, including leading Drupal and/or WordPress projects.
• Have a proven track record managing the full life cycle of web build projects, as well as long-term client support engagements.
• Are fluent in agile workflows, ticketing systems, and client documentation, and can help teams stay focused and aligned.
• Are proficient with AI tools like Claude and use them regularly to improve how you plan, communicate, and manage projects.
• Have hands-on experience troubleshooting bugs, working with site configurations, and managing content in Drupal and/or WordPress.
• Have a strong working knowledge of best practices in website performance, configuration, and development fundamentals.
• Know how to balance scope, timelines, and budgets without compromising quality or team morale.
• Have excellent time management skills to stay on top of your own workload and that of the team members you manage.
• Have experience forecasting and resourcing development project needs, and understand how to match the right roles to project requirements.
• Can set clear priorities, communicate shifts effectively, and keep both internal teams and clients in sync.
• Are proactive, empathetic and confident communicators who listen deeply, explain clearly, and follow through consistently.
• Stay organized and calm while managing multiple active projects, keeping attention to detail and communication steady as priorities shift.
• Bring a proactive, solution-oriented mindset to day-to-day delivery, risk mitigation, issue tracking, change management, and escalations.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and initiative, and genuinely enjoy helping others succeed.
• Have experience mentoring or guiding other project managers or team members.
• Have a passion for the web, for open source software like Drupal and WordPress, and for working with a bunch of fun, thoughtful people.
• Have experience managing and working with distributed project teams and thrive in a remote-first, collaborative environment.
• Are available to work during core Pacific Time Zone hours.
