About the Role We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help build and scale a modern, data-intensive B2B SaaS platform. You'll work across the full stack - designing robust backend APIs, and contributing to a polished Angular frontend - while collaborating closely with product, design, and fellow engineers. This is a high-ownership role. You'll be involved in architectural decisions, code reviews, and shaping engineering standards, not just executing tickets.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, Express.js, and TypeScript
Develop and maintain frontend features in Angular, working closely with designers to deliver clean, performant UIs
Contribute to API design, ensuring consistency, security, and maintainability
Design database schemas, write migrations, and optimize query performance across PostgreSQL and SQL Server
Participate in system design discussions and help define technical direction for new features
Write well-tested, reviewable code and actively participate in code reviews
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across the stack
Own production reliability - PM2 process management, graceful shutdown, health checks, structured logging
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, QA, and other engineers in an agile environment
What We're Looking For
Required
4+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong proficiency in Node.js with a solid understanding of the async/event-driven model
Production experience with Express.js - middleware chains, request lifecycle, error handling
Fluency in TypeScript - you default to it, not tolerate it
Hands-on experience building and maintaining Angular applications (v12+)
Solid understanding of REST API design principles
Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar)
Experience with version control workflows (Git, PR-based development)
This role is heavily focused on backend architecture. You won't just be writing Node.js endpoints; you will be making critical database decisions. You must have proven experience with:
Schema Design: Building and normalizing complex relational databases from scratch in PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
Query Optimization: Moving beyond ORMs to write raw SQL or Stored Procedures, read execution plans and utilize indexes to fix performance bottlenecks.
Migrations: Writing and safely deploying data and schema migrations in production environments without locking tables.
Nice to Have
Experience building streaming APIs (SSE, chunked transfer encoding)
Experience with authentication patterns (JWT RS256, OAuth 2.0, SAML)
