Role Purpose

This role requires a strong governance-driven project manager who can bring structure to complex environments, maintain control of RAID and project schedules, manage demanding stakeholders with confidence, and ensure clear reporting, disciplined decision-making, and delivery accountability across internal teams, clients, and third-party vendors.

The role is best suited to a project manager who is highly organized, assertive, calm under pressure, and confident engaging at both operational and executive levels.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager - APAC will be responsible for leading and governing medium to large software delivery and implementation projects, including international engagements. The role includes establishing and maintaining delivery structure, governance cadence, and project controls across the full project lifecycle.

Core responsibilities include defining and controlling project scope in partnership with key stakeholders, building and actively managing integrated project plans, driving milestone delivery, and ensuring dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and critical path items are visible and managed.

A key part of the role is full ownership of RAID management. This includes identifying, documenting, assessing, escalating, and driving resolution of risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, while ensuring actions are assigned, tracked, and closed. The Senior Project Manager must be able to anticipate delivery threats early and intervene decisively.

The role also requires strong stakeholder leadership. This includes managing challenging clients professionally, setting expectations clearly, facilitating decisions, handling conflict constructively, and maintaining momentum even where there are competing priorities or ambiguity. The successful candidate must be comfortable leading steering discussions, project reviews, escalation forums, and regular client reporting.

The Senior Project Manager will also be expected to maintain strong governance standards by ensuring that project documentation, status reporting, change control, action logs, decisions, financial tracking, and delivery reporting are accurate, timely, and audit-ready. They will need to hold teams accountable for commitments and create visibility on progress, risks, delivery health, and corrective actions.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional delivery teams, managing third-party implementation partners, supporting business readiness and change impact considerations, and ensuring that solutions are transitioned effectively into business-as-usual operations.

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have strong experience leading medium to large software implementation or technology delivery projects in international or multi-stakeholder environments. Experience in ERP, CRM, financial systems, accounting systems, SaaS platforms, or business intelligence implementations will be beneficial.

They must demonstrate proven capability in the following areas:

  • A strong command of project governance and delivery controls, including RAID management, schedule management, milestone tracking, dependency management, change control, status reporting, escalation management, and decision tracking.
  • A track record of managing difficult or high-demand clients while maintaining professionalism, credibility, and delivery focus. This includes the ability to challenge constructively, negotiate priorities, manage expectations, and drive accountability.
  • Strong schedule management capability, including building realistic plans, maintaining baselines, identifying slippage early, re-planning when needed, and communicating impacts clearly.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across executive sponsors, business users, technical teams and client leadership. The candidate should be able to tailor communication to different audiences and create confidence through clarity and control.
  • Experience leading remote and cross-functional teams, with the ability to coordinate delivery effectively across time zones and functions.
  • High resilience, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to write concise status reports, capture decisions, and communicate risks and recovery actions clearly.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong ownership and follow-through.

Technical and Professional Requirements

Candidates should have experience using project delivery and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Projects, Microsoft 365, Excel, and other reporting or planning tools used in software delivery environments.

A good understanding of the IT industry, SaaS delivery models, and software implementation practices is required.

A relevant project management qualification is preferred, and would be advantageous.

Experience Profile

The ideal candidate will typically bring at least 5 or more years of relevant project management experience, including experience in agile, hybrid, or structured software delivery environments. Experience in governance-heavy delivery roles, client-facing implementation roles, or software professional services environments will be strongly preferred.

Duties Include, but Are Not Limited To

  • The Senior Project Manager will define and control project scope, establish governance structures and delivery cadence, maintain project plans and baselines, and drive delivery against approved milestones.
  • They will own RAID logs and governance reporting, ensure risks and issues are actively managed, facilitate decision-making and escalation, and lead client and internal project reviews.
  • They will manage change requests and impact assessments, monitor project health and performance, coordinate internal teams and vendors, and ensure all project documentation and deliverables are maintained to the required standard throughout the lifecycle.
  • They will also build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and service providers, while ensuring project delivery remains aligned to commercial, operational, and client objectives.
