JOB SUMMARY 

 

The Sr. Program Specialist, Occupational Health Services (OHS) - Medical Only supports Marriott’s OHS and Risk Management operations by coordinating medical-only claim activity, maintaining accurate claim documentation, supporting timely communication with associates, providers, properties, claim partners, and internal stakeholders, and helping ensure consistent claim handling across the organization. 

This position helps monitor claim progression, follow up on missing or incomplete information, protect confidential associate and medical information, and support compliant, service-focused administration of medical-only workers’ compensation matters. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 

 

Required 

  • 3+ years relevant experience in administrative, operational support roles within healthcare, occupational health, claims, or equivalent functions.  

  • High School Diploma or GED. 

  • Experience delivering exceptional customer service and applying strong organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills in a fast paced, high-volume environment.  

 

Preferred 

  • Associate degree or higher in healthcare administration, business, occupational health, risk management, or related field preferred.  

  • Experience in occupational health, workers’ compensation, claims, insurance, healthcare operations, or risk management. 

  • Experience with electronic medical health records, Microsoft Office 365, and data entry/reporting practices. 

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

  • Coordinate medical-only claim activity from intake through resolution in alignment with established Occupational Health & Safety and workers’ compensation procedures. 

  • Review injury reports, medical documentation, claim notes, and related information for completeness, accuracy, and timely follow-up. 

  • Communicate with associates, property contacts, healthcare providers, claims partners, and internal stakeholders to obtain information and support claim progression. 

  • Maintain accurate claim records, documentation, correspondence, and system updates in accordance with department expectations. 

  • Monitor claim status, pending documentation, provider responses, and follow-up needs to support timely resolution. 

  • Assist with identifying incomplete, delayed, or inconsistent claim information and escalate concerns to appropriate OHS leadership or claim partners. 

  • Support coordination of medical treatment information, work status documentation, and return-to-work related communications as applicable. 

  • Provide administrative and operational support for medical-only claim workflows, reporting needs, audits, and process improvement activities. 

  • Protect confidential associate and medical information while following applicable privacy, compliance, and recordkeeping expectations. 

  • Partner with team members to promote consistent claim handling, responsive customer service, and effective communication across properties and stakeholders.
