AI Summary

The Senior Linux System Engineer will maintain and scale production infrastructure while ensuring the security, stability, and uptime of all environments. They will also automate processes, monitor systems, and act as a technical point of contact for internal teams and clients.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Linux System Engineer to join our infrastructure team as we scale a fast-growing, high-availability platform trusted by enterprise clients worldwide. You'll help define and implement AWS/cloud best practices, evaluate new approaches, and get hands-on with the implementation and continuous improvement of the systems that keep Xtremepush running securely and reliably at scale.

This is a highly collaborative role — you'll work closely with our Operations team internally, and you'll also engage directly with clients and third-party vendors, so comfort communicating technical detail clearly to non-technical and external stakeholders is essential.

We're looking for someone proactive and driven, who enjoys getting into the detail of complex, large-scale technical problems and seeing solutions through end to end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Operations team to maintain and scale production infrastructure
  • Install, monitor, and maintain hardware and software across our environments
  • Write scripts to automate jobs and processes
  • Own the security, stability, and uptime of production, staging, and development environments
  • Monitor systems and respond to alerts as they arise day to day
  • Take part in an on-call rota for priority-1 alerts alongside the rest of the Ops team
  • Maintain network, server, and storage assets across our cloud environments
  • Drive ongoing upgrades and improvements to infrastructure and processes
  • Contribute to planning application and infrastructure releases and configuration changes
  • Act as a technical point of contact for internal teams, clients, and third-party vendors — troubleshooting and resolving complex issues with clarity and confidence

Our Stack

AWS (EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFront, and more), LEMP stack, PowerMTA, pfSense, Zabbix, Grafana, Proxmox, Graylog, Datadog, Edgescan, ClickHouse

This is a hybrid role. #LI-Remote

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience in Linux system administration supporting a production environment (Debian or derivatives a plus)
  • Scripting ability in at least one language (Bash, Python, or PHP)
  • Solid understanding of the LAMP/LEMP stack
  • Experience with networking and security concepts
  • Experience deploying and debugging complex applications
  • MySQL database administration experience
  • Experience managing mail servers (PowerMTA), mail deliverability, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with cloud-based services and virtualisation
  • Confidence engaging directly with clients — able to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to a non-technical audience

Location

This is a Remote role based in North America. #LI-Remote
