The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to join our Creative Services team on a fixed-term basis, providing maternity cover.
You will own complex, high-profile work from concept through to final delivery, translating scientific and strategic content into compelling visual communications for healthcare audiences.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone who combines excellent craft with sound judgement, confident stakeholder communication and a commitment to raising the quality of the work around them.
What you will do
- Own complex graphic design projects from interpreting the brief and developing concepts through to artwork, quality control and final delivery.
- Create clear and visually engaging work across presentations, campaigns, events, digital content and other medical communications deliverables.
- Translate complex scientific and strategic information into accessible visual stories while maintaining accuracy and audience relevance.
- Act as a trusted source of brand and client knowledge, applying guidelines consistently across projects.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and senior internal stakeholders, confidently presenting ideas and responding constructively to feedback.
- Set and uphold a high quality bar, reviewing colleagues’ work and ensuring outputs are polished, accurate and fit for purpose.
- Mentor and support junior designers through clear feedback and practical guidance.
- Communicate proactively about progress, priorities, risks and trade-offs, raising issues early and offering practical solutions.
- Ensure work meets all applicable brand, legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Lead creative delivery across multiple workstreams, collaborating closely with Client Partnerships, Scientific Services and other colleagues.
What you will bring
- A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated graphic design, visual storytelling and concept development across different formats.
- Typically 4–6 years’ experience in a graphic design or creative role, including ownership of complex, client-facing work.
- Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, alongside strong PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent typography, layout, composition and brand application skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- The ability to navigate complex or ambiguous briefs and make sound creative decisions with minimal senior oversight.
- Confidence working directly with clients and senior stakeholders, including presenting and explaining creative recommendations.
- Experience mentoring, coaching or informally leading other designers.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage concurrent briefs in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical communications or another regulated sector would be advantageous.
What success looks like
- Complex work is delivered end to end, on brief and on time, with minimal senior oversight.
- Your work is recognised as a benchmark for creative quality.
- Clients and internal teams see you as a reliable, solutions-focused creative partner.
- Junior colleagues receive constructive support and show visible development.
- Brand, legal and compliance requirements are consistently met, with risks identified early.
