Senior FP&A & Financial Modeling Consultant

About the Role

You’ve built financial models for different businesses, worked directly with clients or portfolio companies, and learned how to turn complex financial questions into practical recommendations.

At Limelight, you’ll bring that experience to help finance teams improve how they budget, forecast, and report.

We’re looking for a Senior Consultant, Financial Modeling & FP&A with experience in financial advisory, transaction advisory, private equity, venture capital, or a similar environment. You should have built models for multiple clients or portfolio companies, with the ability to understand a new business, identify its financial drivers, and design a model around them.

Using Limelight’s FP&A platform, you’ll turn that knowledge into connected planning models, reports, and dashboards. You’ll work directly with CFOs, Controllers, and business leaders, taking ownership of both the financial solution and the client relationship.

What You’ll Do

• Understand each client’s business. Lead discovery sessions to identify revenue drivers, cost structures, planning requirements, and reporting needs.

• Build financial models from the ground up. Develop integrated models covering revenue, workforce, operating expenses, capital expenditure, balance sheets, and cash flow.

• Turn analysis into working solutions. Translate spreadsheet models and business requirements into scalable planning models within Limelight.

• Develop forecasts and scenarios. Help clients assess growth plans, hiring decisions, funding needs, and changes in business performance.

• Advise finance leaders. Explain assumptions, challenge inconsistencies, and recommend approaches that improve planning and decision-making.

• Manage client engagements. Own scope, timelines, deliverables, and communication across multiple projects.

• Deliver reliable results. Validate calculations, reconcile source data, and ensure models and reports work together accurately.

• Support client adoption. Train finance teams and help them confidently maintain and use the solutions you build.

What You’ll Bring

Experience across multiple businesses

• A track record of building financial models for several external clients or portfolio companies.

• Experience in financial advisory, transaction advisory, valuation and modeling, outsourced CFO services, private equity, venture capital, or a comparable consulting environment.

• The ability to get up to speed on different business models and industries quickly.

• Ownership of substantial modeling work, including developing assumptions, structuring calculations, validating outputs, and presenting findings.

Strong financial modeling and FP&A skills

• Advanced Excel skills and experience building driver-based forecasts, integrated three-statement models, scenario analyses, and management reports.

• A strong understanding of accounting, working capital, cash flow, and business performance.

• The ability to build models that support ongoing budgeting and operating decisions, alongside any valuation or transaction experience.

• Sound judgment about model structure, assumptions, accuracy, and usability.

Client and project management

• Experience working directly with clients or portfolio company leadership to gather requirements and recommend solutions.

• Confidence explaining financial concepts and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• The ability to manage several engagements, set clear expectations, and deliver work on time.

• A practical, collaborative approach to solving problems and taking ownership.

Technology and industry exposure

• An interest in applying financial expertise through modern FP&A technology.

• Experience with FP&A platforms, ERP systems, or finance transformation projects is an asset. Training on Limelight will be provided.

• Nonprofit finance experience, including grant or fund planning, is a welcome asset.

Education and Experience

• 8+ years of relevant experience in financial modeling, FP&A, corporate finance, or advisory.

• CA, CFA, CMA, MBA in Finance, or an equivalent finance qualification.

• Relevant backgrounds may include modeling and advisory teams at BDO, PwC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, boutique advisory firms, or private equity and venture capital firms.
