Job Overview:

The Electrical Evaluator & Trainer plays a critical role in qualifying apprentices, reinforcing safe work practices, and building a skilled, job-ready electrical workforce across multiple job sites through regular travel.

Job Responsibilities:

Evaluate Apprentice Competency

  • Independently assess electrical apprentices’ skills (installation, wiring, troubleshooting, safety, NEC compliance)

Determine Qualification & Progression

  • Create & identify process improvements to qualification programs at PRE
  • Make pass/fail decisions and recommend readiness for advancement within the apprenticeship program
  • Advise lower level Evaluator & Trainers on qualification criteria & processes

Lead & Deliver Electrical Training

  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training aligned with registered apprenticeship curriculum
  • Identify skills that workers are lacking and make recommendations for improvements in curriculum to address these gaps

Provide Field Coaching & Feedback

  • Observe apprentices on job sites and provide real-time performance coaching

Train on Solar Electrical Systems

  • Instruct on solar PV systems, including DC/AC components, inverters, and installation best practices
  • Maintain advanced knowledge on solar electrical systems and stay up to date with new developments in products/systems

Maintain Training & Evaluation Records

  • Document assessments, progress, and completion of training in compliance with program requirements

Ensure Safety Compliance

  • Reinforce OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards; correct unsafe behaviors immediately

Collaborate with Field Leadership

  • Coordinate with supervisors and project teams to align training with job site needs
  • Serve as the primary point of contract to field teams for anything related to evaluation & training

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 5-8 years of experience in:
    • Training, coaching, or mentoring apprentices
    • Conducting evaluations or assessments
  • NFPA 70E Certificate (required)
  • OSHA 10/30 certification (required or ability to obtain)
  • NCCER Instructor Certification or equivalent (preferred)
  • Journeyman Electrician license (preferred)
  • Experience with solar PV systems strongly (preferred)
  • Familiarity with registered apprenticeship programs (preferred)

Pay Equity:

$90,000- $115,000

This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. Primoris Renewable Energy reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.  

Physical Requirements:

  • Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
  • Must pass a physical exam if required.
  • Able to:
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations).
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads).
    • Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE when required.

Work Location:

  • Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.

Mobility Barriers:

  • Uneven ground
  • Obstructed pathways
  • Work at low/high elevations
  • Confined workspaces

Environmental Conditions:

  • Predominantly outdoor work
  • Exposure to:
    • Extreme heat or cold
    • Humidity, rain, and other weather conditions
    • Loud noise from tools and machinery
    • Potential chemical exposure
