The Global Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation (MAEG) group delivers ambitious, patient-focused cross-regional and cross-indication medical strategies, driving data generation and dissemination, to maximize patient benefit from argenx products.


The MAEG Senior Director will provide strategic and hands-on medical leadership for empasiprubart in multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), with a focus on medical launch readiness and evidence generation. Reporting to the empasiprubart Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation Asset Strategy Lead, the role will work in close partnership with the MMN Medical Director and regional MAEG teams, adding complementary launch expertise and capacity. The Senior Director will lead global medical workstreams from strategy through execution, acting as a co-owner across a network of teams to translate scientific and stakeholder insights into actions that accelerate patient impact.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Lead global MMN medical launch-readiness workstreams in partnership with cross-functional and regional teams, empowering teams to co-create clear deliverables, milestones, dependencies, and measures of readiness, while proactively resolving barriers and escalating risks with proposed solutions 
  • Translate prioritized MMN evidence gaps into a data-driven global evidence strategy, co-creating with the MMN Medical Director to align scientific objectives, feasibility, timelines, and resources. 
  • Lead the medical strategy and scientific oversight of evidence-generation initiatives, challenging the status quo and applying innovative approaches to address complex evidence needs and improve outcomes for patients in partnership with Clinical Development, RWE, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and regional MAEG teams. 
  • Operate as part of a connected network of teams, co-creating with regional and country MAEG colleagues to translate global strategy into locally relevant plans, integrate regional insights, and develop shared scientific resources that enable effective local execution. 
  • Build trusted partnerships with experts, healthcare and patient organizations to listen, learn, and co-create evidence, education, and insights that shape patient-centered Medical Affairs priorities. 
  • Identify and prioritize MMN evidence and education needs across the patient journey, including diagnosis, treatment patterns, disease burden, functional outcomes and treatment burden, and translate these insights into actionable medical strategies. 
  • Partner with scientific communications to support development and execution of publication plans for impactful data dissemination and medical education strategies  
  • Develop and continuously maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise with relevant diseases and products and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert  
  • Seek diverse perspectives with curiosity and humility, synthesizing insights from scientific exchange, regional teams, congresses, advisory boards, and patient communities into actionable recommendations that continuously refine evidence and launch-readiness priorities. 
  • Partner with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations to provide medical and scientific input to study concepts, protocols, feasibility, investigator engagement and recruitment barriers, with operational study delivery remaining with the designated study team. 
  • Ensure all medical affairs activities maintain the highest standards, comply with applicable pharmaceutical regulations, as well as argenx policies and procedures  
  • Attend appropriate national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, increase personal knowledge, develop relationships with customers 

Education, experience and qualifications 

  • Advanced degree required: M.D., Ph.D., or PharmD. 
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience required in Medical Affairs, or a combination of Medical Affairs and closely related clinical development or evidence-generation roles, with substantial Medical Affairs leadership responsibility required. 
  • Demonstrates entrepreneurial leadership by driving innovation, acting with co-ownership, navigating uncertainty with agility and humility, and translating diverse insights into action and meaningful patient impact. 
  • Launch experience in the neuromuscular/immunology space required. 
  • Experience in building empowered, high-performing networks of teams by sharing knowledge, developing talent, seeking diverse perspectives, and maintaining accountability for collective outcomes. 
  • Strong understanding of drug development and demonstrated ability to critically evaluate clinical and scientific evidence. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated medical and evidence-generation plans, translating evidence gaps into feasible study concepts, critically interpreting results, and partnering with methodological experts and scientific communications colleagues on dissemination. 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trusted scientific partnerships with medical experts and other stakeholders. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication and presentations. 
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, resolve cross-functional trade-offs, prioritize resources and deliver agreed outcomes in complex matrix teams, combining strategic judgment with hands-on execution and coaching of colleagues. 
  • 30% estimated travel (international/domestic)
