As our fully remote/distributed team continues to rapidly expand, we’re always looking for ways (and people!) to help us stay on track.   Who should apply We are seeking an analytical wizard who is excited by the opportunity to manage impact investing fund vehicles. You understand private investments and structured finance, and are familiar with the basics of private funds. You have led analysts or fund managers before, and know how to balance hands-on technical depth with coaching others to do the same. Spreadsheets are your happy place and you love a good number puzzle. You can balance complicated analysis with presenting summary recommendations across a fund’s lifecycle, including watching the investment pipeline relative to capital calls and distributions, tracking financial and impact covenants, and working through a range of what-if scenarios. You are a resourceful, hyper-organized professional who gets bored unless you are handling multiple workstreams, and can work within a wide breadth of systems and tasks. You love to create and utilize elegant tools, templates and processes that improve efficiency and accuracy. Our team is distributed across the U.S. and works remotely.  Primary responsibilities You will work primarily with the MD, Fund Services (your supervisor). Your responsibilities as Senior Director, Fund Management and Client Services will include the following:  Fund & Client Management:  Overall fund management: Oversee a portfolio of funds and client relationships, serving as dedicated fund manager responsible for the full life cycle and operation of assigned funds Client management: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client partner relationships. Lead client/partner meetings, including setting agendas, taking minutes and following up on resulting action items. Governance: Support fund governance processes for assigned funds, including preparing materials and managing the calendar for Investment Committee and fund advisory board meetings, and maintaining accurate records of consents, waivers, and other governance actions taken over the life of each fund.  Investment analysis and due diligence: Screen, underwrite and produce credit memos for investment opportunities/deals for funds under management. Present deals to the MDF Credit Committee and Investment Committee. Collaborate with the Investment Team to ensure alignment on underwriting processes and quality standards. Coordinate with the Borrower Services team to close investments.  Liquidity management: Model and manage cash flows, distributions, and commitments, ensuring appropriate liquidity for fund vehicles using existing tools or self generated tools Portfolio risk management: Collaborate with the Portfolio Management team to monitor portfolio risk and return on a regular basis to evaluate deviations from strategic targets, ensure covenant compliance; as appropriate, recommend strategy modifications, Prepare portfolio updates for the MDF Investment Committee on a quarterly basis, or as requested.  Investor Reporting: Partner with other Fund Services and IT team members to produce quarterly, annual and ad-hoc investor reports for funds under management. Where client/partners are involved in the process, manage coordination between MDF and client/partners to complete reports.  Data collection & analytics: Partner with other Fund Services team members, Investment Management team and IT team on portfolio financial and impact data collection to ensure there is quality data to produce reporting and analytics for managed funds Cross functional collaboration: Coordinate closely with internal teams (Investment Management, Legal, Accounting & Finance, IT) to ensure execution on fund and client deliverables according to time and quality expectations Information management: Ensure all client and partner information is accurately maintained, organized and updated in all storage drives, systems and trackers.  Onboard New Funds to MDF Platform Support the MD, Fund Services (and other executives) on new client-partner engagements to build and onboard new funds onto MDF’s platform, including the following:  Producing initial fund models to support design of new funds  Collaborating with clients to develop initial underwriting tools (e.g. underwriting criteria, application process, deal screener, credit memo templates)  Underwriting initial/pilot deals Collaborating with functional teams to get them up to speed and to assist with onboarding activities  Partner with the MD, Fund Services to shape and drive process and content improvements to MDF’s Fund Services division  As requested, support preparation of proposals and business development efforts with new client partners  Team Leadership Lead a small, diverse team with varying areas of focus, ensuring optimal performance by providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for growth and development. Set clear goals for the team while monitoring progress regularly, and implement strategies to ensure the team meets targets and deadlines. Act as a bridge between leadership and team members, facilitating clear communication and understanding of expectations, objectives, and organizational goals. Adeptly navigate complex situations, swiftly identify challenges, and implement effective solutions Contribute actively to cross-functional collaborations and projects, leveraging diverse perspectives to drive innovative outcomes. Our supervisors at MDF are expected to: Inspire a shared vision Engage and challenge the process Value people Develop themselves and others Communicate with candor Act in the best interest of MDF Make effective decisions QualificationsDesired values, qualifications & skills An ideal candidate will value:  Our mission to build a better financial system Developing solutions from a team perspective Ability to take initiative and work semi-independently Balancing work quality with efficiency and productivity  Our culture of humor, flexibility, and resilience And have a background and skills that include: 10+ years of relevant experience structuring fund vehicles, executing private credit investments, or managing loan portfolios Advanced ability to use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to create and manage fund and financial analyses, including the ability to build fund cash flow models of moderate complexity  Proven track record supervising, coaching, and developing Director- and Associate-level staff, and building high-performing teams around a shared vision and goals Strong ability to manage a high volume of complex projects that are in different stages through excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills Experience developing processes, templates, tools to organize information/data, improve efficiency, promote cross-functional collaboration  Excellent attention to detail, document review, and proofreading skills Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a high level of professionalism to both internal and external audiences Thrive in an evolving startup environment, adeptly managing competing priorities and deadlines with adaptability and responsiveness. We can't wait to explore the possibilities together.  Compensation This is a Senior Director level role with an annual salary range of $135,000 - $165,000 per year, plus company incentives, based on your unique skills and experience. It's important to note that starting salaries for most candidates will fall at or below the 50th percentile of the above salary band. However, starting salaries will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
