Attain Partners is seeking a Senior Data Consultant to join our Technical Services team, supporting data migration and analytics initiatives primarily within the higher education sector. This role is ideal for an experienced data professional who enjoys working across complex enterprise data environments, analyzing source data, defining transformation and mapping requirements, developing SQL-based data extracts, and preparing data for migration into modern cloud platforms such as Salesforce.
The Senior Data Consultant will initially support our Data Migration team, with opportunities to expand into Analytics and broader Data Services & Analytics initiatives as projects progress.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Migration
- Analyze data across legacy applications, databases, and enterprise platforms to understand structure, relationships, quality, and business meaning.
- Develop detailed source-to-target mapping specifications documenting how legacy data will be transformed and migrated into target platforms.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and reconcile data.
- Produce migration-ready data files, including CSV extracts for loading into Salesforce and other cloud platforms.
- Perform data profiling to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, duplicates, missing values, and transformation requirements.
- Develop transformation and cleansing rules in collaboration with functional and technical stakeholders.
- Conduct reconciliation and validation activities to confirm completeness and accuracy between source and target systems.
Data Integration & Modeling
- Analyze data relationships across multiple operational systems and data sources.
- Assist with logical and physical data modeling activities supporting migration, integration, and analytics initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into technical data requirements and transformation logic.
- Support ETL/ELT processes used to move and transform enterprise data.
- Document data lineage, transformation rules, dependencies, and business logic.
- Work with integration and application teams to resolve data-related issues across systems.
Analytics & Data Quality
- Perform exploratory and analytical analysis of institutional data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop queries, reports, and datasets supporting operational reporting and analytics.
- Support data warehouse, reporting, and analytics initiatives as projects transition from migration into ongoing analytical capabilities.
- Establish data validation and quality controls throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Help clients improve the usability, consistency, and reliability of their enterprise data.
Client Consulting
- Facilitate requirements and data discovery sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear technical requirements and data specifications.
- Explain complex data issues and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner with client teams to investigate data issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Communicate project status, risks, assumptions, dependencies, and data quality findings to project leadership.
- Work collaboratively with functional consultants, developers, architects, analysts, and project managers.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data analysis, data migration, data integration, business intelligence, data warehousing, or related disciplines.
- Advanced experience writing and troubleshooting SQL against enterprise relational databases.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex datasets and understanding relationships across multiple systems.
- Experience with data mapping, ETL/ELT, data transformation, or system migration initiatives.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, data models, joins, keys, and data relationships.
- Experience performing data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and data quality analysis.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical data requirements.
- Experience gathering requirements directly from business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a client-facing consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within higher education, particularly Advancement, fundraising, alumni relations, student, finance, or other institutional data domains.
- Experience with higher education platforms such as Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday, Slate, Advance, or similar enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Salesforce, including Salesforce data structures, Data Loader, bulk data loads, or Salesforce migration projects.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar database platforms.
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience developing or supporting enterprise data warehouses.
- Familiarity with reporting and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Salesforce Analytics.
- Experience developing formal source-to-target mapping documents and migration specifications.

Attain Partners is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The individual base salary for this position is unique to each candidate and will be commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

$110,000—$130,000 USD
