Senior Conversion Designer
Remote, Direct-to-Consumer Ecommerce
Design pages that convert. Backed by research, not vibes.
4AM Media owns and operates 3 DTC brands across health, cleaning, and pets. Last year we spent over $40M across paid media scaling our own products. We're not an agency. We're operators: supply chain, creative, custom funnels, media buying, analytics, and customer service all happen under one roof.
We're hiring a Senior Conversion Designer to own the design of every page that touches our customers: landing pages, sales funnels, Shopify storefronts, checkouts, upsells, and the visual assets that live on all of them. You'll work across all 3 brands and report to the creative manager.
The thing that makes this role different: you're not just making pages look good, you're designing for conversion. That means you live in the mind of our target customer before you open Figma. You're reading Facebook comments on our ads, scrolling through the subreddits where our buyers actually hang out, reading the reviews on our products and our competitors', and synthesizing what real customers are saying into design decisions that move the needle on conversion rate and revenue per visitor.
What you'll own
Landing pages built to convert
You take copy from the Creative Strategist, sometimes a finished brief, sometimes a rough mock-up you'll co-build, and turn it into a high-converting landing page from layout to final visuals.
- You design the page flow, hierarchy, modules, and visual story
- You produce or source every asset on the page: images, graphics, icons, badges
- Our goal is to achieve angle congruency from the ad to the landing page to the sales funnel.
- You leverage AI image generation as part of your standard workflow to produce custom imagery faster than the old "shoot or stock-photo" model allowed
- You think about above-the-fold conversion, scroll behavior, mobile-first rendering, page speed, and trust signals because all of them affect the number that matters
- You ship pages that the buyer team is excited to send paid traffic to
Sales funnel and checkout design
Our funnels, sales pages, checkouts, upsells, post-purchase flows, are where revenue per visitor lives or dies. You own redesigning and A/B testing the whole thing.
- You design new funnel architectures (or rework existing ones) with revenue per visitor as the success metric
- You build funnels in layered Figma files that dev can implement directly without guessing
- You think in upsell paths, decline flows, bundle psychology, and offer structure — and you have opinions on what should be tested next
- You partner with the media buyers and Creative Strategist on what to test, why, and what the next iteration should look like
Shopify storefront design
Our Shopify storefronts have been a real weakness for us. You own fixing that.
- You design and ship Shopify storefront experiences across our brands using GemPages
- You make decisions on product page layout, collection page UX, navigation, trust signals, and the entire storefront flow
- You think about returning customer experience, repeat purchase paths, and how the storefront supports retention — not just acquisition
Customer-driven design research
This is what separates conversion designers from web designers.
- You read Facebook comments on our ads to understand customer objections, questions, and language
- You read product reviews, ours and competitors', to find the buying triggers and the deal-breakers
- You scroll subreddits where our customers actually live to understand the conversations happening outside our funnel
- You read CS tickets to understand post-purchase friction
- You synthesize what you learn into design decisions: hero images that hit the right pain point, social proof modules that answer the actual objections, FAQ sections that address the real questions
Every design decision you make has a reason behind it that connects back to something a real customer said.
Final visual asset production
- Custom product photography direction (or DIY when needed)
- AI-generated imagery integrated into your workflow
- Icons, badges, graphics, illustrations
- Lifestyle imagery, before/afters, comparison visuals, whatever the page needs to convert
Performance accountability
You're accountable for conversion rate and revenue per visitor on the pages and funnels you ship.
- When a page underperforms, you diagnose why, file the learning, and ship the next iteration
- You partner with the media buyers and Creative Strategist on hypothesis generation for what to test next
What we need you to bring
- 5+ years designing landing pages, funnels, and DTC ecommerce experiences with a portfolio of work you can point to as winners on real paid traffic
- Proven conversion track record. You've designed pages that meaningfully moved CVR or RPV against real spend and you can articulate what you changed and why it worked
- Strong customer-research instinct. You read Reddit, Facebook comments, reviews, and CS tickets as part of your design process not as a checkbox, but because you can't design well without knowing the customer's actual language
- Layered Figma fluency. Your files are clean, organized, and dev-ready
- GemPages or equivalent Shopify funnel builder experience. You can ship a Shopify page or storefront end-to-end without dev support for standard work
- Basic front-end code skills (HTML, CSS, basic Liquid). You don't need to be a developer, but you can make small implementation tweaks yourself when it's faster than waiting on dev
- Strong AI image generation workflow. You have your own pipeline using whatever combination of tools works for you and you've integrated AI image production into your daily design process. You have a clear POV on what AI does well and where it falls short
- DTC ecommerce native. You think in CVR, RPV, AOV, LTV, and unit economics
- Self-starter, no handholding. You don't wait for someone to tell you what's broken. You find the page that's leaking conversion and you fix it
- Proactive remote operator. You connect with the in-office team and other remote teammates frequently. You don't go quiet
- Strong written and verbal communication. You can explain your design rationale with reference to customer research and conversion logic not just aesthetic preference
What disqualifies you
- Treating the role as visual craft only, with no interest in conversion outcomes
- Designing without doing the customer research first
- Falling in love with your designs instead of the data
- Bringing problems without proposed solutions
- Waiting for direction rather than building
- Working hours that look busy without conversion improvements that back them up
- Operating without AI tools integrated into your workflow
Why this role is different
- You report to the creative manager and work as a peer to the Creative Strategist, media buyers, and the rest of the creative organization
- You work on our brands, not clients. Every conversion lift your work drives goes back into the company you work for
- You design across the full funnel. Landing page to checkout to upsell to storefront you see and shape the whole experience
- Real budget for AI tools, image generation, and whatever else you need. We trust the people we hire to deploy resources well
- You ship. This isn't a role where you make decks and present concepts. You design pages, ship them, watch them perform, and iterate. Every week
- Real growth path. Crush this role and the path expands into senior creative leadership, expanded brand coverage, or operator roles across the business
Remote, with intent
This role is remote. The growth team is primarily in San Diego, but the right Senior Conversion Designer can be effective from anywhere as long as you bring proactive communication and tight async habits. You'll need to connect frequently with the in-office team and other remote teammates, share work in progress early, and never be the one teammates have to chase. Remote works for builders. It doesn't work for people who go quiet.
