Our Raytheon Digital Technology Foundational Capabilities team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer or IT Software Tools Specialist with a strong background in software license management, software deployment, and coding. The ideal candidate will combine their mechanical engineering expertise with advanced technical skills to support multidisciplinary projects in the aerospace and defense industry. This role requires a detail-oriented engineer who can manage software tools, ensure compliance with licensing agreements, and contribute to the development and deployment of engineering solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Coding & Automation
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks related to mechanical engineering workflows.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar to enhance efficiency in data analysis and simulation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions with existing engineering systems.
  • Software Deployment & Maintenance
  • Lead the installation, configuration, and deployment of software tools used for mechanical engineering analysis, modeling, and simulation.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical support to engineering teams.
  • Ensure timely updates and patches are applied to software to maintain functionality and security.
  • Software License Management
  • Manage and track software licenses used within the engineering team, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Collaborate with procurement, IT, and engineering teams to assess software needs and maintain an optimized suite of tools.
  • Maintain a centralized inventory of software licenses, user access, and renewal schedules.


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Technical Support and Admin experience with Windows and/or Linux Environments
  • Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, or equivalent languages.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working in development teams using Agile concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience in a mechanical engineering role with demonstrated expertise in software license management.
  • Familiarity with software licensing models and agreements.
  • Proficiency in software deployment and troubleshooting for engineering tools (e.g., CAD, FEA, CFD applications).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices or version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • The ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance may be required in the future after your start date.

Remote: This position currently is designated as remote. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home) but may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The successful candidate for this role will be required to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. territories).

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
