This is a newly created senior role responsible for owning the month-end process across the firm's

clients — reconciling accounts, producing client reports, and managing statutory obligations.

The mission is for this person to become the reliable backbone of month-end delivery: taking the

processing off the Director's plate, and creating the capacity for the firm to take on more clients. As

the business grows, this role grows into more advisory and potentially management.

This is a new part of a new business. The employee would ideally learn the role in detail and then as the

business size increases, grows into a role of checking and overseeing the work of others.

Key Role Activities

Ø Owning the Month End process for assigned clients end to end

Ø Prepare data for handover to tax account to prepare annual data (having AU experience in business

services/tax will be highly useful for this)

Ø IAS/BAS preparation, reviewing simple BASs prepared by junior staff

Ø Reviewing bookkeeping entries and standing journals posted by junior staff. Ensuring any errors

corrected before month end finalised

Ø Identification of prepayments and accruals and posting to month end files where required

Ø Calculation of YTD income tax position for business entities including adjustments for prepayments,

accruals and permanent tax differences

Ø Report compilation, review and finalisation for client delivery

Ø Reviewing workpapers and work prepared by junior staff

Ø Workpaper preparation for the Director to review

Ø Trend analysis and P&L reviews

Ø Drafting correspondence to clients

Ø Assisting other staff with Accounts Payable tasks including data entry and reconciliations

Ø Assisting with advisory tasks including forecasting and client analysis

Ø Mentoring and training junior staff on above processes and supporting their technical development

Ø Assisting with creating process instructions and documenting operating procedures

Selection Criteria

Ø 3-5 years experience in AU accounting. Preferably in business services/tax for an AU accounting

firm

Ø Commerce experience considered helpful, but not expected or required

Ø CPA Qualified or equivalent

Ø Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or majoring in accounting

Ø Commitment to quality service and client relationships

Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ø Proficiency in key bookkeeping software (Xero, MYOB etc.)

Ø Effective workflow and time management skills

Ø Meets total hours, chargeable hours and overall productivity percentage

Ø Well-developed computer literacy to ensure efficiency and productivity

Ø Display initiative and willingness to learn

Ø Ability to self start and stay motivated in a WFH position

Ø Exhibit well developed verbal and written communication

Ø Organised approach to work. Ability to manage lodgement timelines and provide deliverables to

clients in line with their expectations.
