Description

The Scrum Master serves as the servant leader for one or more cross-functional Agile teams, ensuring effective execution of Scrum practices and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This role facilitates Agile ceremonies, supports backlog refinement and sprint planning, removes delivery impediments, and promotes alignment between team members and stakeholders. Working closely with Product Owners, Program Managers, Engineers, Integration Leads, Designers, and Government stakeholders, the Scrum Master helps translate mission requirements into secure, high-quality software capabilities delivered through iterative and predictable release cycles. The Scrum Master also monitors team performance, supports Agile maturity, and drives process improvements to enhance delivery effectiveness and mission success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile development teams, promoting adherence to Scrum principles, Agile values, and organizational best practice
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement sessions
  • Coach delivery teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles and continuous improvement 
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to maintain a prioritized and well-defined product backlog aligned with mission and program objectives
  • Identify, track, and help remove impediments that may impact team productivity, sprint commitments, or delivery schedules
  • Align sprint execution with program milestones, release schedules, and delivery commitments 
  • Work with technical leads to surface dependencies and improve team effectiveness 
  • Coordinate collaboration across engineering, integration, data and analytics, security, and platform teams 
  • Identify, track, and drive resolution of impediments affecting velocity, quality, or predictability 
  • Maintain Agile metrics, including velocity, burndown, throughput, and team health, to support forecasting and improvement 
  • Support release planning, demonstrations, and customer feedback sessions 
  • Advise program leadership on delivery capacity, throughput trends, and staffing considerations as the program scales 
  • Help mature Agile delivery practices so they scale consistently across multiple teams 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 3-5+ years as a Scrum Master supporting Agile software or platform delivery teams 
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams using Scrum and/or Kanban to deliver enterprise software 
  • Solid grounding in Agile methodologies, Lean principles, and the software development lifecycle 
  • Proven ability to facilitate ceremonies and coach cross-functional technical teams 
  • Experience partnering with Product Owners to maintain and refine backlogs 
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical teams and government stakeholders 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of removing impediments that others escalate 
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and sustain delivery momentum through shifting priorities 
  • U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Active Secret or TS clearance 
  • Agile certification such as CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe
  • Army or DoD program experience, including Agile delivery in government environments 
  • Salesforce, MuleSoft, or Tableau experience 
  • Familiarity with government cloud environments, RMF, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes 
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and secure software delivery 
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed delivery teams
