SAP Platform Engineer (SAP Basis / Linux / Automation) – Remote (EMEA) (f/m/d)

We are looking for an experienced SAP Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team and help build, operate, and automate the SAP platforms that power our products, development environments, and internal services. Combining SAP Basis expertise with Linux administration and infrastructure automation, you will help deliver reliable, secure, and scalable SAP environments that support our engineering teams and enterprise customers. 
 
Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure,maintain, and optimize SAP landscapes across development, test, and production environments.
• Perform SAP installations, upgrades, kernel updates, support package implementations, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Administer SAP NetWeaver, SAP HANA, and supporting platform services.
• Plan and execute SAP system copies, refreshes, migrations, and platform upgrades.
• Operate Linux-based SAP environments with a focus on stability, performance, security, and availability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks using Ansible orSaltStack.
• Manage certificates, secure communication (TLS/SNC), and PKI integrations.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability initiatives.
• Investigate and resolve complex SAPplatformand infrastructure issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Infrastructure, Customer Success, and Security teams to improve platform reliability and automation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and automation play books.

 
 
Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience administering enterprise SAP environments in a SAP Basis or SAP Platform Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP NetWeaver administration.
• Experience administering SAP HANA environments.
• Strong Linux administration experience, preferably SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).
• Hands-on experience with SAP Host Agent, Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM), and Software Update Manager (SUM).
• Experience automating infrastructure using Ansible orSaltStack.
• Experience with Bash or Python scripting.
• Good understanding of SAP landscape administration, transport management, and system lifecycle operations.
• Solid understanding of Linux, networking, storage, and infrastructure security.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, international engineering team.

 
Nice to Have

• Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite or SAP Cloud Connector.
• Knowledge of SAP Security concepts and secure SAP landscape operations.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Experience with Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with VMware or ProxmoxVE.
• Experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines.

• This position is fully remote within EMEA.
