This includes designing HVAC and plumbing layouts, performing calculations, coordinating with other disciplines, and ensuring compliance with building codes and standards.
Key responsibilities
- 3D Modeling: Develop detailed 3D models of HVAC ductwork, piping, and equipment in Revit.
- Design and Layout: Prepare detailed mechanical and plumbing drawings, layouts, sections, and isometrics for fabrication and construction.
- Coordination: Collaborate with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to coordinate designs and resolve conflicts, often through clash detection processes.
- Calculations and Sizing: Perform calculations for heating, cooling, and loads, and size equipment and systems.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable building codes, standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA), and client requirements.
- Documentation: Develop and edit mechanical specifications and other technical documentation.
- Field Support: Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, support construction, and review submittals.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for projects and assist senior engineers and project managers.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of building codes and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC).
- Ability to perform design calculations and equipment sizing.
