Quality Engineer

Position Summary:

Revolution Space is looking for a dynamic and growth-oriented Quality Engineer who will coordinate and direct process development, process improvement and operations management activities; interface as necessary with production employees, supervisors, engineers, management, vendors and customers to complete assignments; and seek optimum balance between process robustness, process cost and product quality.

Ensure products and processes meet defined standards by identifying root causes of issues, implementing corrective actions, and fostering continuous improvement through data analysis, audits, and cross-functional collaboration. Resolve quality problems for internal and external stakeholders, assist in developing quality assurance systems, conduct product testing, monitor quality metrics, and ensure compliance with quality management systems.

The position is full-time and remote with a preference of eastern time zone, DMV area. Travel expectations upwards of 50% otherwise.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate investigations into quality issues from internal production, suppliers, and customers, using various methodologies to find root causes and implement permanent corrective actions
• Conduct internal audits and audits of suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices
• Collect, analyze, and report on quality-related key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap levels, rework rates, and parts per million (PPM)
• Support the implementation and ongoing adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS) like ISO 9001 and AS 9100, including updating documentation and setting guidelines
• Manage supplier quality by reviewing and validating Pre-Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and resolving supplier quality concerns
• Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes and product quality to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
• Work closely with various departments (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.) and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues efficiently
• Develop and execute product testing procedures and inspect raw materials and finished goods to ensure they meet specifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of quality engineering experience within aerospace, defense, space, or a high-reliability manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems
• Experience with nonconformance management, MRB, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation
• Working knowledge of inspection methods, measurement equipment, and manufacturing quality practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within space, aerospace, or defense industry
• Experience with supplier quality management, supplier corrective actions, and incoming inspection
• Experience with aerospace electronics, EEE components, mechanical components, or propulsion systems
• Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102 requirements
• Experience with quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC, and CAPA
• Experience supporting internal, customer, or regulatory audits
• ASQ certification or other relevant quality certification
• Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma are desirable
• Knowledge of ERP systems
• Operate and interpret data from various measurement equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
