The mission of the Health Federation of Philadelphia is to promote community health by advancing access to high-quality, integrated, comprehensive health and human services. We believe in and are firmly committed to equal employment opportunity for employees and applicants. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, religion, disability, sex or gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, military or veteran status. This commitment applies to all aspects of the Health Federation of Philadelphia’s employment practices, including recruiting, hiring, training, and promotion.
JOB SUMMARY
Home Grown, a fiscally sponsored project of the Health Federation of Philadelphia, is a national collaborative dedicated to creating a more inclusive child care system that values and supports home-based child care (HBCC), including care provided by family, friends, and neighbors (FFN). The organization envisions a future where all children have access to quality care that fosters their growth, learning, and well-being. By addressing systemic barriers and amplifying the unique value of HBCC, Home Grown advocates for sustainable change that positions HBCC as a viable and high-quality child care option for families. Guided by core values such as community-centered approaches, collective action, and innovation, the organization prioritizes uplifting care providers and families, fostering provider-led networks, and building scalable solutions.
Home Grown believes that the voices of providers and parents must shape policy decisions and action. We are committed to supporting the leadership, visibility, and participation of home-based child care providers. As such, Home Grown seeks to add a Provider in Residence to the Home Grown team to advise on strategy and program development, deepen provider engagement, co-lead select initiatives, and serve as ambassadors for the mission of Home Grown. The Provider in Residence often advises and represents Home Grown independently, drawing on years of hands-on provider experience to make judgment calls that shape strategy, partnerships, and how Home Grown shows up in the field.
Providers in Residence will have the opportunity to translate their lived experience into policy recommendations and strategy and have a systems-level impact. The Provider in Residence position may be an especially good fit for experienced providers who are interested in a career shift. Home Grown intends to support Providers in Residence as they explore their career options.
It is a deeply community-centered, relationship based-role. The Provider in Residence is self-motivated and thrives in relationship-centered work. They are grounded in equity and respect for diverse lived experiences, and are comfortable navigating complex, dynamic environments.
