What's in Store
We are on the lookout for an experienced Property & Casualty Liability Claims Manager to join our team. You will serve as a key member of Davies’ leadership team, responsible for overseeing liability claims operations and driving excellence in technical claims handling, client service, and operational performance. This individual will lead a team of claims professionals managing complex liability exposures, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency in claims outcomes while supporting strategic business initiatives across the Davies organization.
To be successful in this role you should have experience managing Property & Casualty claims operations within government, public sector, or municipal environments
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of liability claims adjusters and technical specialists across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage complex and high-exposure liability claims, including general liability, bodily injury, and professional liability.
- Oversee claims strategy, reserving accuracy, litigation management, and settlement negotiations within delegated authority.
- Partner with clients, brokers, attorneys, and vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective claim resolutions.
- Ensure adherence to client service agreements, claims best practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Review claims data to identify trends, improve accuracy, and support risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and coaching to claims staff.
- Contribute to business development efforts by supporting client reviews, renewals, and service presentations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of client outcomes.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Risk Management, or related field). JD or CPCU designation a plus.
- 8–12 years of liability claims experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of commercial general liability, bodily injury, and related coverage lines.
- Proven ability to manage complex litigation, evaluate exposures, and negotiate settlements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on mentoring, performance management, and team development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of client-facing presentations and reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with claims management systems and data analytics tools preferred.
- Ability to travel as required for client meetings, mediations, and internal reviews (up to 15%).
