About Us
Avantpage is a translation provider committed to empowering immigrant and LEP communities through language access, primarily in the health and government services arena. We are a global company with offices in Davis, CA, Mexico City, and Warsaw, Poland. We live by our values of empathy, opportunity, and rigor — and we’re looking for a proactive, tech-savvy professional in Latin America to join our multicultural team.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced localization Project Manager to guide new clients from initial handoff through successful onboarding and implementation. This role sits at the intersection of clients, Business Development, and Operations. It is designed for someone who enjoys being client-facing, can independently bring structure to ambiguous requests, and is energized by projects that go beyond traditional translation workflows.
The Project Manager will own day-to-day client communication, scope and launch localization programs, lead meetings and product demonstrations, and coordinate the internal work required to turn new solutions into repeatable, scalable operations. Once an account is stable and ready, this person will ensure a clear and seamless transition to the core Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for newly onboarded clients, building trust and maintaining clear, proactive communication throughout implementation.
- Partner closely with Business Development and Operations to understand commitments, clarify requirements, and translate client needs into executable project plans.
- Scope, quote, plan, and monitor translation and localization projects to meet quality, deadline, and budget expectations.
- Lead client kickoffs, discovery sessions, status meetings, portal demonstrations, and other implementation-related conversations with confidence.
- Manage nontraditional and technology-enabled solutions, such as customer portals, integrations, data-driven workflows, print and mailing programs, and other evolving service models.
- Create and maintain client- and project-specific procedures, workflows, checklists, instructions, and implementation documentation in partnership with global production teams.
- Ensure project setup and financial data are accurate across systems, supporting efficient delivery and healthy project profitability.
- Manage requests for quotes, test translations, ad hoc tasks, and implementation support with appropriate prioritization and follow-through.
- Track client behaviors, implementation progress, account effort, and relevant metrics to support decisions about account readiness and transition.
- Prepare and lead a structured handoff to the Operations team, ensuring that all requirements, decisions, workflows, and open items are clearly documented and communicated.
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional experience in the localization industry is required.
- At least 3 years of project management experience in localization or language services, with demonstrated ownership of client accounts or complex programs.
- Strong client-facing experience and genuine enjoyment of customer interaction, including leading meetings, managing expectations, and navigating difficult conversations.
- Working knowledge of localization technologies and workflows, including TMS, CAT, OCR, and related production tools.
- Proven ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and move projects forward with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Comfort with ambiguity, new technologies, and projects that do not follow a standard translation workflow.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, attention to detail, and follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance client needs, operational feasibility, quality, and profitability.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
What We Offer
- Remote work from anywhere in Latin America.
- Join a vibrant multicultural team across the Americas and Europe.
- Professional growth opportunities in the localization industry.
- Training in new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Collaborative and empathetic work culture.
