Job Summary: The Programmer Analyst II designs, develops, supports, and codes low- to moderate-complexity software systems to support the administrative function of the University under moderate supervision. This may include departmental and moderately critical applications. Develops processes and web applications. Creates workflows. Installs, customizes, supports, and creates integrations for vendor-supplied software systems. Works on a team and collaborates with specific departments, colleges, and customers around campus. Supports their needs, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and responding to their questions and concerns in a timely manner.

Additional Department Summary: This intermediate-level position is a part of the IT Operations Support & Process Development team, which primarily develops custom processes using Microsoft Power Platform, as well as supporting AssetWorks AIM and M5 applications. The team develops processes and web applications using C#, .NET, and Power Platform; design, manage, and maintain webpages using WordPress and SharePoint; and supports vendor-supplied software systems, including Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools, and AssetWorks AiM, FleetFocus, and FuelFocus. This team helps to support the following campus partners: Campus Development, Compliance, Enterprise Operations, Public Safety, and Facilities. This position is expected to be both the primary and secondary support person for various applications and processes.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT programming experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT programming; OR high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT programming.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and work with customer groups and users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. The ability to manage work tasks and follow through to completion. Have effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Troubleshooting skills to analyze, track, and resolve issues. The ability to implement departmental third-party applications, analyzing installation and configuration documentation, to successfully install and take on support for an application.

Preferred Qualifications: Some experience supporting moderately complex systems and troubleshooting application issues. Some experience with working with customers, gathering and analyzing requirements. Some understanding of relational databases and ability writing and analyzing SQL queries and reports; preferably with Oracle, MS SQL, or MySQL; and ability to analyze table data structures and patterns in the data to gain insights. Some experience with the creation and management of database objects including tables, triggers, indexes, and procedures and processes, including SSIS. Some level of programming knowledge and ability, with languages such as C# and .NET. Some experience supporting or working with higher education administrative applications and tools, such as AssetWorks AiM, FleetFocus, and FuelFocus; Power Platform and Power Apps, WordPress, and SharePoint. Base knowledge of managing Windows Server applications, including IIS management and configuration and a base knowledge of Linux commands. Knowledge of web development concepts, including experience with HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, Javascript, MVC concepts, and web accessibility. Experience with other programming concepts and tools including restful APIs; shell, Powershell, and Python scripting; Git versioning; and managing flat file data feeds.
