Job Title: Product Manager & Designer

Status: Full-Time

Reports To: Head of Product

About Here Now Health:

Here Now Health is the first virtual healthcare company specifically built for children and families impacted by the child welfare system. We deliver child welfare–informed, high-touch care to Medicaid-covered youth navigating foster care, adoption, kinship placements, and juvenile justice. Our model prioritizes consistency, trust, and accessibility in systems where they are too often missing.

Role Summary

We are hiring the second person on our product team: someone who designs the screen, writes the ticket, chases the bug with the engineers, and sees it ship.

A therapist has ten minutes between sessions. A caregiver is reading a text in a parking lot. A caseworker needs to know  what consent to sign. All three are looking at software we built, and the screen has to be right for each of them.

You own that screen: what it needs to do, how it looks, the ticket, the build, the check before it ships, and the release note after. Most days you are working directly with the engineers: reproducing what broke, showing them where and why, and working out the fix together. You report to the Head of Product and you are the second person on the product team.

Key Responsibilities

Roughly how the time splits

Working with engineering (about 40%)

  • Decide, with the Head of Product, which of the incoming bug reports and ideas ships next
  • Write the ticket for what you designed: states, error copy, notification text, what counts as done
  • Reproduce what breaks, show the engineers where and why, and brainstorm the fix with them
  • Check the build on staging with test patients, and look at production after a release
  • Write the release note, and run a short training when a feature changes how therapists work

Product design  (about 30%)

  • Work out what therapists, care advocates (our non-clinical team who help families get scheduled and stay in care), caseworkers, and families each need from the same workflow, where those needs collide, and what has to be true for all of them before anything gets drawn
  • Take a workflow and a rough sketch to a low-fidelity screen the same week, and to a real one after a round with the clinical team
  • Own the copy across the product, from a reminder text to a button label, and the design system underneath it

Data and AI workflows (about 20%)

  • Keep our automated reports and checks accurate (attendance, therapist capacity, no-shows, chart audits), and follow up on what they surface
  • Build new AI-assisted workflows with the Head of Product, and check their output before anyone relies on it
  • Pull the numbers behind each product decision, and check after launch whether it worked
  • Turn a spreadsheet into something the team can act on, from monthly goals versus actuals to a quick answer for the clinical director

Materials and website (about 10%)

  • Build the decks and one-pagers the rest of the team needs: the monthly all-hands deck, a handout for a referral partner, materials for a conference
  • Keep the public-facing website current

Qualifications

Required

  • 3 to 5 years in product management, product design, or both, on a product people use every day
  • Healthcare experience, ideally Medicaid or behavioral health
  • A portfolio with product UI and at least one ticket or spec you wrote
  • A clear view of what makes a ticket and its acceptance criteria good
  • Figma or a similar tool, and the habit of writing your own UI copy
  • Daily use of AI tools in your own work, and a sense of where they go wrong
  • Enough technical depth to reproduce a bug, narrow it down, and explain it to an engineer. You don't need to code
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred

  • Child welfare or behavioral health experience
  • Experience on a product with several user roles and permissions
  • Experience managing work in Linear or a similar issue tracker
  • Experience building or maintaining a website in Webflow or a similar platform

Work Environment & Hours

  • 100% remote, with occasional travel for engagement with partners and stakeholders
  • Full-time role with flexible scheduling
  • Must have access to a private, quiet workspace with reliable high speed internet.

What Sets This Role Apart

  • What you design ships to therapists and families within weeks
  • You are in the room with the engineers every day. Bugs get chased together, often the same hour they are reported
  • Six kinds of users share one product, and each of them is right about what they need
  • Medicaid rules, consent law, and privacy decide a lot about what a screen can do. You design inside that
  • We use AI tools to support our workflows and expect you to be curious about them. The thinking and the creative work are still yours

We're a small team, so you'll do your own QA, copy, and prototypes, with engineers and clinicians a message away. Feedback often comes as a quick Slack note from a therapist between sessions, and you'll follow up with them to learn more.

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) for eligible high-deductible health plans.
