AI Summary

Lead the full product development lifecycle for cable and connectivity products from concept through commercial launch and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product priorities with market opportunities and long-term business strategy.

Overview

Paige Water & Outdoor Solutions is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the development, commercialization, and continuous improvement of cable and connectivity products serving commercial agriculture, irrigation systems, landscape lighting, mining, oil and gas, and submersible pump applications.

This is a hands-on product leadership role for someone who brings strong technical knowledge, sound commercial judgment, and an entrepreneurial approach to product development. You will help identify new market opportunities, translate customer needs into scalable product solutions, and guide products from early concept through design, testing, launch, and ongoing improvement.

The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between technical design discussions, customer conversations, quality investigations, cost analysis, and product strategy. You should understand how electrical products are designed and applied, while also knowing how to evaluate market demand, product viability, pricing considerations, margin potential, and long-term portfolio value.

Reporting to the business segment’s Vice President, you will work closely with commercial leadership and cross-functional partners across engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, marketing, and finance. You will help ensure product-development priorities support customer needs, market opportunities, revenue growth, and the long-term strategy of Paige Water & Outdoor Solutions.

This role offers a remote work arrangement with a preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zone and  approximately 30% travel for customer meetings, supplier visits, manufacturing reviews, product testing, field evaluations, trade shows, and other business needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the full product development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and feasibility analysis through design, testing, commercialization, launch, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify new wire and cable product opportunities based on customer needs, market demand, competitive conditions, technical feasibility, and company strategy.
  • Develop product concepts, business cases, technical requirements, product roadmaps, and execution plans for new products and enhancements.
  • Evaluate product-market fit, development costs, pricing considerations, margin potential, manufacturability, scalability, and commercialization risk.
  • Gather feedback from customers, distributors, sales teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to guide product direction and portfolio priorities.
  • Perform or oversee electrical design, wire and cable selection, component sizing, system architecture, and technical integration.
  • Develop and review product drawings, schematics, technical specifications, bills of material, design calculations, and testing requirements.
  • Ensure products meet applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Lead investigations into product quality, reliability, and performance concerns, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive design and process improvements that enhance reliability, manufacturability, safety, performance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, marketing, and finance to keep product initiatives aligned and moving forward.
  • Support product positioning, value propositions, launch plans, technical messaging, and other go-to-market activities.
  • Provide product and technical expertise to customers, distributors, channel partners, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend whether products should be expanded, modified, repositioned, standardized, or discontinued.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in product development, product engineering, electrical design, technical product management, or a related engineering function.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing products or engineered solutions from initial concept through design, testing, validation, and commercial launch.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design, wire and cable selection, component sizing, system integration, and technical documentation.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or approving technical specifications, product drawings, schematics, design calculations, bills of material, or related engineering documentation.
  • Experience evaluating electrical performance, environmental conditions, material requirements, safety considerations, cost, and manufacturability during product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives involving engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and other commercial functions.
  • Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and make sound decisions that balance product performance, quality, cost, timing, customer requirements, and scalability.
  • Working knowledge of product cost, pricing considerations, margin, manufacturing requirements, and commercial viability.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical subjects clearly to customers, commercial teams, suppliers, and senior leaders.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and build structure where processes may still be developing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, product management, or a related field.
  • Experience with wire and cable products used in commercial agriculture, irrigation systems, landscape lighting, mining, oil and gas, submersible pump, water, outdoor, or related industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of conductor materials, insulation compounds, jacket materials, voltage ratings, environmental requirements, electrical sizing, and cable construction.
  • Familiarity with codes, certifications, testing requirements, and industry standards applicable to wire and cable products.
  • Experience working directly with distributors, contractors, original equipment manufacturers, agricultural customers, irrigation system providers, pump manufacturers, mining operations, energy customers, or industrial end users.
  • Experience creating or formalizing product-development, commercialization, quality, or stage-gate processes.
  • Experience with customer discovery, market analysis, competitive research, product strategy, pricing, portfolio management, or go-to-market planning.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing partners, suppliers, quality teams, supply chain teams, sales organizations, and channel partners.
  • Experience leading or mentoring product management, engineering, technical, or cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes across functions without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
