Job Description

We are looking for a Power BI Developer to design, develop, and deliver enterprise Power BI solutions utilizing Databricks as the primary data source. This position will be a contract and remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Power BI dashboards and reports using Databricks as the primary data source

  • Partner with stakeholders and product owners to translate KPIs, reporting needs, and analytical questions into wireframes, technical designs, and delivery plans

  • Build scalable semantic models using star schemas, conformed dimensions, reusable measures, and clearly defined business logic

  • Develop advanced DAX measures, calculation groups, time-intelligence logic, and Power Query (M) transformations for accurate and maintainable reporting

  • Connect Power BI to Databricks SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake tables, and governed views using Import, DirectQuery, and composite models

  • Collaborate with Databricks engineers to define gold-layer datasets, optimize SQL, and ensure data quality, lineage, and business-rule consistency

  • Design intuitive report experiences using drill-through, bookmarks, tooltips, conditional formatting, mobile layouts, and accessible visualization practices

  • Tune report and model performance using Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, VertiPaq analysis, query diagnostics, aggregations, and incremental refresh

  • Implement row-level security, object-level security, workspace access, and sensitivity controls in alignment with governance standards

  • Publish and manage semantic models, reports, apps, refresh schedules, and deployment pipelines across development, test, and production

  • Develop paginated and operational reports in Power BI Report Builder for pixel-perfect or export-oriented requirements

  • Establish reconciliation, validation, peer review, and UAT practices to ensure completeness, accuracy, and release readiness

  • Troubleshoot refresh failures, connectivity issues, DAX or model defects, and production performance problems within defined SLAs

  • Support CI/CD, version control, and release automation for Power BI artifacts with platform and DevOps teams

  • Maintain solution designs, data dictionaries, measure catalogs, report specifications, support guides, and knowledge articles

  • Mentor Power BI developers and analysts through design reviews, code reviews, reusable patterns, and hands-on coaching

  • Participate in roadmap planning, architecture reviews, sprint ceremonies, and continuous improvement with data, analytics, and governance teams

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field with 6-10 years of relevant experience in business intelligence and analytics delivery

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience integrating Power BI with Databricks SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, or equivalent lakehouse platforms

  • Expert knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Report Builder, DAX, Power Query (M), and semantic model design

  • Strong proficiency in dimensional modeling, star schemas, reusable metric design, data visualization, dashboard UX, and data storytelling

  • Advanced SQL skills and practical experience with Databricks SQL, Delta tables, medallion architecture, and Unity Catalog

  • Deep understanding of Import, DirectQuery, composite models, query folding, incremental refresh, aggregations, and refresh optimization

  • Proven Power BI performance tuning using Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, VertiPaq Analyzer, and query diagnostics

  • Experience implementing row-level security, object-level security, workspace security, sensitivity labels, and governed access

  • Experience managing Power BI workspaces, apps, semantic models, refresh schedules, gateways, and deployment pipelines

  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Power BI deployment pipelines, REST APIs, and automated release practices

  • Strong data testing discipline, including source-to-report reconciliation, regression testing, UAT support, and defect resolution

  • Strong stakeholder communication and requirements-analysis skills, with the ability to simplify complex data into actionable insights

  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring developers, conducting design and code reviews, coordinating cross-functional delivery, and promoting standards

Preferred:

  • Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate PL-300 is a strong plus
