In this role, you will help clients get more value from their analytics environments by strengthening the reliability, usability, and performance of their Power BI solutions while supporting broader data modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support existing Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, semantic models, and workspaces in production environments.
  • Troubleshoot report performance, refresh failures, data quality issues, access concerns, and user-reported defects.
  • Enhance and refactor existing Power BI models and reports to improve usability, maintainability, performance, and business alignment.
  • Apply Power BI best practices for data modeling, DAX, Power Query, visualization design, deployment, security, and workspace management.
  • Support data integration workflows that feed Power BI solutions, including data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and validation.
  • Work with SQL-based data sources, APIs, files, cloud data platforms, and other enterprise data sources as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving data pipelines, transformation logic, and curated datasets used for analytics and reporting.
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and trusted.
  • Create Microsoft Fabric workloads related to Power BI and data engineering, including lakehouses, warehouses, data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, and semantic models.
  • Contribute to the migration, modernization, or rework of existing reporting assets into more scalable Fabric-aligned patterns where appropriate.
  • Help monitor, validate, and optimize Fabric-based data assets that support analytics and reporting use cases.
  • Stay current with Microsoft Fabric capabilities and apply practical knowledge to improve client delivery quality.
  • Modify, improve, and rebuild existing Power BI reports and semantic models based on client requirements and support findings with consideration of the overall Microsoft Fabric strategy.
  • Design clear, intuitive reports that help business users understand performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, Power Query transformations, and dimensional models.
  • Ensure reporting solutions are documented, maintainable, and aligned with client standards.
  • Provide responsive, professional support to client stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
  • Translate business questions and support requests into technical actions and reporting improvements.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including status updates, issue summaries, and recommended next steps.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience developing, supporting, enhancing, and troubleshooting Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, semantic models, and workspaces.
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification is preferred.
  • Microsoft Fabric Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification is a plus but not required.
  • Advanced working knowledge of DAX, Power Query, data modeling, report optimization, visualization best practices, and Power BI performance tuning.
  • Experience reworking or refactoring existing Power BI solutions to improve usability, maintainability, scalability, security, and business alignment.
  • Solid SQL skills, including querying, joins, stored procedures, views, data validation, and troubleshooting source-to-report data issues.
  • Practical experience with data integration, transformation, cleansing, and validation across relational databases, APIs, flat files, cloud platforms, and enterprise data sources.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric workloads, including lakehouses, warehouses, data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, and semantic models, is a plus.
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT patterns, curated datasets, pipeline monitoring, data quality checks, and dependency management.
  • Experience with Power BI security, workspace management, deployment processes, refresh schedules, access control, and governance best practices.
  • Ability to document data models, report logic, transformation rules, known issues, support procedures, and technical recommendations.

  • Ability to translate business questions, reporting needs, support requests, and stakeholder feedback into clear technical actions and analytics improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, including issue summaries, status updates, recommendations, and next steps.
  • Client-service mindset with the ability to provide responsive, professional, and outcome-focused support in production reporting environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business users, analysts, data engineers, project managers, and client stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in enhancement and support-oriented delivery models where priorities may shift based on production issues, client needs, and business urgency.
